I climb the shelf

A question for you if you couldn't reach the items on the top shelf in the supermarket, how do you get the item? If you're born tall, then you probably won't have this problem. I often need to find a way to take the item from the top shelf. Also, items that I want would be on the top shelf most of the time! Usually, I would look for stepladder or anything that I could use to climb. If that's not an option, I'll try looking for any sales assistant help. If that's also not an option (or the other person was just my height), I would most likely climb to grab the item very fast. I did that! I know it's dangerous too! Thankfully there was a stepladder nearby today. I couldn't imagine climbing the shelf to haul a heavy bottle of cooking oil.

Better to ask a sales assistant if step ladder is not there. I am tall at 171 cm and don't face.

@prinzcy I am considered quite tall for my country standard. And if I won't be able to get, I am sure the sale assistant wouldn't either. I am taller than an average male height here.

In my case, thankfully, I am able to reach items I need on high shelves. On times though where my height fall on the short side of things, I try to jump and grab the item considering it is not fragile. If that doesn't work, I also look for sales assistants for help. However, as a shy person, I make it a point to look for someone who doesn't seem busy so as not to disturb their work :)

You shouldn't be shy about asking for help when you are a customer! You are doing a good thing for the store by buying their goods, and if they have put items where you cannot reach them then they should help, otherwise you can't buy them can you?

@prinzcy In that case I would ask the sales person to use the ladder and get me what I want (lol)

You can always ask for sales people. It's risky to climb without any support. Take care

there are these extension poles that have grabbers at the end I've seen people use at the grocery store.

@DocAndersen I got 3kg cooking oil on the shelf today. They put the biggest on the bottom. But all the 3kg were beyond my reach.

Not really useable for certain items. But there are stepladders though. It just that some stores don't provide that.

Am also that short person and follow your steps too. This diversity is good I imagine if all of us could be of the same height it could be boring, don't you think so?

I could normally reach the top of the shelf. How tall are you? The supermarket should have the shelf within reach or staff that that you could ask to get those you couldn’t reach. Here when it’s something that’s really unreachable, I usually ask the staff to get it for me. I don’t want to get it myself if i have to exert too much effort.

I usually grab a stepladder, I used your system of jumping and quickly grabbing, but I know that it is dangerous.

That’s a frustrating situation I also face when I go shopping. I always wait for a staff and politely ask them to get the unreachable item

It also happens to me from time to time. If I can't reach an item, i would try to find a sales assistant to get it for me. I won't try reaching things on my own since I'm afraid to accidentally knock other things off the shelves.
