The regular part of this month-long look at songs with “dream” in the title ends today. Starting tomorrow, it’s my ten favorites. But first, we close out the alphabetical look at “dream” songs with this one....from my brother’s favorite band! Your Wildest Dreams - Moody Blues And, although they aren’t my favorite band, I am still furious that it took the Moodies as long as it did to make the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I’ve pretty much given up on them, based on this year’s nominees (and the fact that Pat Benatar [a]wasn’t inducted last year and [b]wasn’t re-nominated this year), but this isn’t about those morons. This is about the marvelous Moody Blues! Something interesting that I had no clue about: this 1986 hit was the first Moody Blues top ten hit in the US since “Nights in White Satin” in 1972. Wowza. Of course, that’s what I get for joining the rock and roll parade in 1974 and primarily listening to FM rock. The Moodies were staples on FM rock (and, in addition to my brother, my supervising petty officer in Norfolk loved them), so I didn’t know they were out of favor with the pop music charts for that long. Not with me, my brother, or a whole lot of other people, who finally saw their wildest dreams realized in 2018.
