Andre Rieu - Love in Venice.

Tonight there was a whole concert of Andre Rieu on my telly box. And despite it being called Love in Venice, he wasn't in Venice at all. He was in the Vrijthof Square in Maastricht! But he had made it look like the square in Venice by erecting structures that it has, and a fountain. Also there were people around the fountain wearing Viennese masks. And despite the concert being called Love in Venice there were songs from other places in the world including a Ukrainian song sung by a Ukrainian soprano. Early on in the concert Andre started talking about how it all started and the fact that he had been in the Pop charts at No.1 for 10 weeks with The Second Waltz by Dimitri Shostakovich! (This is one of my favourites, by the way). So, then he played it (yeee) and while he was playing it pictures came up on the big screen of when he played it at half time at a football match! Later, Andre told us about his oldest fans in Maastricht. There had been twin ladies who were fans of his, but one of them had died. The other one was a Nun who crept out of the convent one night to go to one of his concerts without the Mother Superior knowing about it! Apparently she got told off for being out too late! Anyway, she was now 100 years old and she was at the concert tonight and Andre was going to dance with her! So while the orchestra started playing The Beautiful Blue Danube Andre got off the stage, helped the lady out of her wheelchair and danced with her for a couple of minutes. Then he came back on stage, took his violin off the guy he'd passed it too, and went straight into the flow of the music. It was wonderful. At the end of his concerts Andre usually plays Adieu, Little Captain of my Heart and Marina, and that's what he did tonight aswell. The concert went on from 9:00pm to about 12:15am! (It was made a bit longer because of the commercial breaks of cause). I enjoyed every moment of it.

Wow, imagine how happy he must have made the nun! It would make me one of the happiest people ever!
