I started with his song at noon, most of which I know by heart.
Now at YouTube, I found a conversation with him.
It was interesting how the critic Henry Louis Gates described him "Radical before it was chic and remained so long after it wasn´t."
I just stopped it long enough to give you the link. This is one of the men I look up to, not only for his wonderful voice or the attractive looks of his youth, but because he has been always a wonderful human being.
See you later. I love YouTube
Harry Belafonte discussed his new memoir My Song with award-winning television host and journalist Liz Walker.* With special sponsorship from Bingham McCutch...

Very interesting. I wouldn't have thought of him as political or radical; but then you never know!

I don´t know if you saw the movie "Selma". In that movie they said that Belafonte hired a plane to send celebs to help with the cause of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

@LindaOHio You could see it on YouTube. It is a semidocumentary film about the march to Selma during the Civil Rights movement of the 60s.

The link about the conversation with Harry Belafonte is more about politics though. For me it is much more interesting. I have been following the long way towards freedom of the African American for around 60 years.

Interesting information. I like some of his music, but I never knew he gave conferences. I will need to listen when I get a chance.

This conversation in the JFK Library has to do also about his role as an activist. He was a close follower of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
