My world still has frosty nights. The day time temps are mild and mostly sunny. This means that it is pansy and viola season! Think: purples and yellows and whites and even a maroon soft petal. I continue on in my campaign to socialize Rufus dog-pup. I dropped hubby off at work this morning then took Rufus and me to Lowe's garden center. He did well. My glasses fogged up. I constantly wiped them off so that I could see. Irritating. Now we're home. I'm rehabbing pots on the deck, making things pretty. And Rufus? He snuck in behind me and nipped off a pansy bloom and ate it. I have sprinkled pansy blooms on Easter cakes cause yes, those blooms are edible to anybody who wants to consume them. Just please, please don't destroy the pansy plant before it is even settled into a pot?! My day might be interesting if Rufus forgets what "leave it!!!" means. I intend to make two individual sized pot pies today. Those pot pies will be our lunch when we head out tomorrow for a walk and picnic. So I can't devote my entire day to a certain sometimes naughty pooch.

@DianeN I'm using Alfredo sauce for the gravy. Should be tasty.

Will you just make two individual sized pot pies today or more for future meals?

@marlina Just two little pies. I guess I could make more and freeze them but I'm not sure if the crust would still be normal. Good question.

Poor Rufus! He was just trying it to see how good it tasted. A few years ago Pretty and I were in our front yard and I told her she could eat a pansy blossom. She picked one and chomped it... and then spit it right out. It had an ant in it. OMG! The faces she made! I laughed and laughed!

@DaddyEvil I thought that was your whole point- being a good Dad and giving your loved one protein.

@DaddyEvil That was kind of mean of you though that ant would have contributed protein.

Oh yes - dogs have minds - and strange eating habits - of their very own!

How old is Rufus? I hope he stops eating the pansies. Enjoy your walk and picnic tomorrow.

@just4him Good question. We adopted Rufus just over a month ago. I'm guessing he is about a year old. He has puppy ways still.

@just4him You know what a Heeler is? Rufus is all Heeler. I probably should rent a cow and let Rufus boss the cow around.

@sallypup He's still learning your ways. I hope he learns quickly. I think all dogs have puppy in them.

Although today is quite warm near 80 degrees tonight it is to dip into the mid 40's. Spring may be here..but the weather doesn't quite know it yet.

I had never tried to eat them. Kitty dog ate my only peach on a tree one year before she passed away. It was not even ripe yet at the time.

@wolfgirl569 I loaded Rufus's Kong ball with canned green beans and peanut butter. He ate it all.

@wolfgirl569 Silly dog. When I was a kid we had a dog that frustrated one of my brothers. The dog would nip green tomatoes off the vine cause he thought it was a ball and brother should toss that tomato. Just when brother was dreaming about finally getting a ripe tomato!

@LindaOhio Rufus would be a perfect grand dog for you- you could visit with him then go away and not have to deal with him hour after hour.
