Am I a bad person for doing this?

This outbreak has been taking a toll on my mental health. I want to get a vaccine to feel safe. The number one priority to get vaccinated are mostly Health workers and delivery people. So last month I decided to apply for a job in Uber eats so I will get the vaccine. I just got vaccinated because I work for Uber eats. Maybe I will stay on this job for three months and after that I will quit.
This vaccine is for long term Ubereats employees and I have no intention of working as courier guy for a long time. My conscience tells me to keep this job for a whole year so I won't feel bad for doing this shortcut.
I know what I did is selfish but I want to get vaccinated, its self preservation and working for Uber eats is the fastest way to get vaccinated.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Even those who are vaccinated cannot have a "normal life" here for the moment. We are asked to wear the mask and anyway restaurants and bars stay closed for the moment.

That is simply being resourceful. At least you got what you want in a legal way. But what's bothering you is something about ethics... (a subject I was forced to study so I can teach to my students)...let's put it this way, you are now serving others in order to get the vaccine, That means you have given up something as well... sounds fair to me.

Yeah it has been bothering me and makes me feel evil. I took a job I don't even like and need just to get my shots.

@CaptAlbertWhisker if you made a false claim that you work for Uber, that's bad. But you sacrificed your comfort and will be sacrificing your time to serve other people even just for the time being. That's a fair trade.
I bet you will also learn a lot from your job. That will be a bonus.

I guess it's okay what you did. I just think you have to work for a little while so you can at least show them that you did not make a shortcut on having vaccinated. I think if that will make you peace of mind then that is fine that you had made an effort to get vaccinated.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Yes l think you should work to show them you are not one of them. I guess that can also clear your conscience that you only took the shortcut then abandon it. At least you have a side job that can earn you a livingand your safe and vaccinated for your peace of mind.

My girlfriend is also an Ubereats delivery girls now because she wants the vaccine too. Other couriers are angry to vaccine opportunist people.... They didn't know I am one. Maybe if I keep this job a little longer my decision will be more respectable. Most vaccine opportunist quits the job the moment they got vaccinated.

Why are Ubereats employees getting vaccinated again? I missed that part.
The end justifies the means. You got want you want, really up to you if you'll stay or not.

@CaptAlbertWhisker ok, makes sense. Non-medical front liners deemed essential workers. Good for you then. Might be worth it to stay even for a year or so.

Because they deliver food to hundreds of houses. I have to enter houses of different people who could be infected. Most of the time though they just get the food and I leave asap.

That option doesn't exist here. Health care workers are the only ones who get vaccinated early, but I don't think that you are a bad person for doing that. I am pretty sure that some people here would do the same if it was possible.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I understand. I belong to a high-risk group and I feel the same way as you.

I just did it because I see the option as opportunity to get vaccinated and be safe. I had been fearing for my life since 2020. I want to feel safe.

@CaptAlbertWhisker No I would not. I was not 100% ready when it took it. No rush for me.

I think you used your brain to legally get something you want. The job may turn to be one you like, or not.

I don't like this job and I have decent paying online job, Desperation for the vaccine is the reason why I stoop this low.

If I quit the job, then I will be an opportunist that the other drivers hate. I think I will stick to it until the end of the year so my conscience will be clean

It's not bad, everyone has the rights to think of themselves first.Selfless person is hard to find and to be.This is a world with the natural competition.Smarter people goes fast, that's how this world runs.Unless we truly harmed someone, nothing is bad.Like a saying said:"The early bird catches the worm."

I just want to get it early and I am not a doctor or a nurse. Working as an Ubereats courier is the short cut to vaccination. it is not my dream job because the pay is not that good, I just want to feel safe.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Sometimes we all have to do something we don't like for the life. It's not bad or shameful. It's normal.

People will get upset i suppose because you got a job while the rest have a hard time looking for work. But then there's a risk of getting infected through the courier i think. So, if you don't feel safe about that work anymore then it's okay to quit.

It has been months and I just quit the courier work. I think I served long enough and give the slot to a person who really needs this job.

As long as it's not illegal and unprofessional, it is okay to be a bit selfish. By quitting the job, you are not violating any rules and so it's okay. Anyway people switch jobs when they get a better opportunity.

I don't want this job but my conscience tells me to keep it for a while so I wont be just a parasite who short cut his way to get vaccinated.

I am not like the other opportunist who quits the job after vaccination. I will keep this job for a while so they cant say I am an opportunist who just took a short cut.

I was given a certificate that I can show to guards so I can enter buildings without a mask but I will continue wearing mask.

Which vaccine did you get? Have you had both first and second dose?
