The chilly sun came out. About food.

So I got out of my bedroom and started with my breakfast. I have here my second cup of coffee and I decided to have toasts with Philadelphia and soy sauce cream cheese. After I ate them, I will only eat the Philly cheese with soy sauce with crackers. The bread was not such a good idea. I gave Luna a rather stale soda cracker an she was perfectly happy. I know that different species and even races are different. I have seen monkeys eating lice happily. Top of the world, a book written around the 50s about the inuit told that they ate lice too. Bugs are good if you don´t have much protein about. And I once read that the first jambalaya dishes had alligators instead of chicken. Do you have special food where you live?

I had alligator nuggets when we visited Louisiana, the taste is very similar to chicken, but it's more chewy.

I read that alligator was THE WAY slaves could have proteins many decades ago. Chicken were for the white bosses. Other interesting food was the snakes that aztecs ate before they conquered what is now Mexico city.

@marguicha I tried the alligator, but I refused to eat the snake in Arizona. I have such a phobia for snakes that I could not even want to think to eat them... it seems that they also taste like chicken.

Everyone loves pizza in the US. We also thrive on Chinese takeout; and many, many people like Mexican food (not me). We tried alligator when we were in the Everglades.

@marguicha I think that bread is standard, flour, salt, water, but it is increasingly combined with various seeds.

Most of the food around here isn't special. Maybe Abalone, it's a shellfish that's kind of rare; it's really good but you have to tenderize it really good or it's too tough.

I love abalone. We used to have a lot in our seas but we caught too many and now they are endangered.

@marguicha Yeah, same thing here. It's gotten expensive because they're rare and it's dangerous to dive for them.

I will enjoy my second cup of coffee in a little while. I always have a variety of special food in the deep freezer and pantry, just in case-no bugs for me.

There are some regions of my country that specialize in cooking crocodile or alligator meat. Though I have not tasted any yet. Our specialty food here in my region or even in our province is Lechon or Inasal in our Cebuano language.

@marguicha Yes you're correct because "Lechon" or "Inasal" is roasted young pig.

When I worked at a preschool associated with a Jewish synagogue, we would have "pretend Shabbat" on Friday afternoon (before sunset). We would sit on the floor and sing songs with the Rabbi. Inevitably, a child (or two) would find their way(s) into my lap. Sometimes I would pretend be picking lice from their hair and eating them. Once in a while a grown-up would see me and laugh.
