It also snowed 35 years ago!

Today is our 35th wedding anniversary - which is apparently traditionally known as the Coral Anniversary, although no coral was exchanged today!
When we got up this morning there were a few snow flurries in the air, which - strange to tell - was also the case on 5th April 1986 when we were married at Birkenhead Town Hall (pictured), followed by a blessing at St Stephen's Church, Prenton.
Our honeymoon was spent in Ireland, for which we took the evening ferry from Liverpool to Dublin. One little detail we had overlooked when making all the arrangements was that that was also the same day that the Aintree Grand National was being run just a few miles up the road - a very popular event with Irish racegoers.
We therefore spent our wedding night on a ferry shared with a horde of Irish people who were either celebrating or drowning their sorrows - depending on whether or not they had backed the winning horse!
It was a good job that we had booked a cabin deep in the bowels of the ship, so we were relatively undisturbed!

That's a very grand town hall. I bet it was a rowdy night.
