HE AIN'T HEAVY HE'S MY BROTHER

In October, my older brother (72 years old) suffered an accident, a fall from a roof that he was trying to clean. As a consequence, he had some minor injuries and severe head trauma, which is what has not fully healed so far. That worries me because he has no one to assist him, since his children are out of the country, and since he was not a very good father, they do not worry at all. Since he was released from hospital, I have had him with me and I have tried to take care of him as he should be, but it is difficult for me since the few resources that I have, if anything, those are enough to support my family. But even so, I can't leave him alone, he has no where or with whom to go. I am very concerned that to this date, although it has evolved a lot, he have memory problems, confuse words and is not able to carry on a fluid conversation without introducing words out of context. I want to get him out of this situation, but it is very difficult for me, I do everything recommended in these cases, but I cannot fully regain his sanity. Maybe it's that I'm impatient, or I'm not doing the right thing, but I'm trying. Has any of you experienced a similar? I giveyou the title of a wonderful song performed by "The Hollies", which inspires me to continue.

Head traumas are very difficult and many have side effects that last forever. I know that it is difficult to get a specialist, but do it if you can.

I'm on it Marguicha. And I fear that the effects of trauma will be combined with the type of degenerative diseases related to aging, such as senile dementia or Alzheimer's.

I think you should consult someone who has experience with such cases, someone from the hospital, from your brother's social security or a person from your church. You should at least have someone who can assist you.

Thanks friend, I'm on it. Although in my country it is extremely difficult to get some kind of professional help, unless you have a lot of money.

@profree2019 As I've said, talk about this with a pastor.

Yup, that is called transference. You carry the weight of your brother because he is unable to. In ordinary parlance, a sacrifice. You are responding positively to the question 'Am I my brother's keeper?' Kudos to you.

@profree2019 No matter the mistakes and all the ugly things that transpired in life, our brothers are our responsibility. We are our brothers' keepers. '

That's a tough situation to be in especially with the crisis happening in your country My prayers go to you and your brother. The version of that song I'm familiar with was sang by Donny and the Osmonds.

Thanks friend, it is quite difficult, but in fact I am very happy, because in these last days he has remembered a lot of things and is improving his speech. In the name of God he will soon be fully recovered, I hope.

I thank you for taking care of your brother the best you can, but it looks to me that he needs professional help ASAP
