Dominant Hand

According to a wise man named Google; the dominant hand is the hand you use "to perform fine and gross motor tasks" and that it is "not really our choice because it is not a conscious decision that we make as children".
Meanwhile some wise men; not Google; say that "the left hand is for receiving while the right hand is for giving".
So which one is your "dominant hand?"

I'm ambidextrous because I could do so many things with both hands almost equally well but I still consider myself left handed because I write with my left and my left hand is a bit stronger and does a bit more..

@gamayngbaki I always thought that it was normal and everybody was like this, it was my grandmother who first noticed it when I was a child. Not really a skill cause maybe it's inborn but I guess it compliments skills that needs the use of tools such as in carpentry. It's also an advantage in sports like basketball and boxing.

@louievill Maybe the right term for ambidexterity would be that it's a talent ... an inborn talent!

Same here ... I am also right handed but I try to strengthen my left hand enough for it to be able to do certain tasks which require for me to use my left hand.

@gamayngbaki The term dominant hand of course is used in different context as you have rightly pointed out. In bridge dominant hand is the one which controls the play.

These wise men cannot do anything anymore if we contradict what they say because they are comfortable now in their "resting places".

@gamayngbaki I have never tried using left hand for a heavy task. I don't trust my left hand. Lol

I write with my right hand too but I try to use my left hand in doing heavy task like using the screwdriver in tight spots but i never experiment using my left hand with the knife because I might cut my finger instead of the vegetable I'm chopping

Same here! But have you allowed your left hand to do some tasks on it's own like for example using a screwdriver or ironing clothes etc?

I am a very right-handed person. I think there is really no issue whether you are a left or right-handed person. You are the same as anybody else. I know back in the days that they force those left-handed people to use their right hand instead. There is no need for that since it just is biological or genetics that chose where your dominant hand is. I know many who was able to adjust to the right that still uses their left hand every now and then.

Just like you I am very right handed person too but sometimes I have to use my left hand so as much as possible I have to prepare both hands to perform tasks.

My right hand is stronger than my left. Write with my right hand. I just don`t know if it has something to do of being dominant. I give when I can give

In our culture the right hand is for receiving, using this parameter would bring nowhere.
Both my husband and I are ambidextrous, we can use both hands. He was born like that, I got the habit because I could not use my right hand and arm during 2 years due to an accident.

@gamayngbaki I guess we are born with a natural hand to use despite attempts to change the laws of nature.

I would say my right hand because I am so used to using it for most things. When something would happen that I had to rely on my left I was very lost.

Losing the use of my right arm (please God no) is one of my greatest fear that's why I try my very best to train my left arm or left hand to do some work.

My right hand is dominant, but my left hand is pretty much useless. They work well as a team but my left hand can't fly solo.

Same as you , my right hand is also the dominant hand. My left hand is the girly hand. This is the hand that wears my rings and bracelets quite well.

My left hand. But, for seven years, my entire right arm hung limp at my side. If I wanted to move it I'd have to pick it up with my left. So, guess left became it by default.

Your left hand and arm need to be very strong because it is doing the job of both hands or arms.

Writing with the left hand is quite difficult if you are right handed. I tried to train my left hand to write but I gave up.
