I think it all depends with the mind.If we have a clear mindset that we want to quit something be it cigarette, alcohol or khat,we can do it.I think addiction is controlled by the brain so if you divert your thinking from the substance you wont buy it.Economic conditions can also contribute, in that if you lack money you won't be able to afford such things.

Addiction is rarely that simple. It can suck you in until you feel as if it's normal. Go on long enough, and you won't be able to stop no matter how much your mind wants you to. You're right about one thing, if your mind can tell you, you have a problem.... then and only then can you seak help. But, it's rarely mind over matter.

Rightly said. Often it becomes difficult for people to stop it as it becomes a habit for them and their bodies aren't able to adjust too. Have a good day. Take care

A hobby I think can help you forget about it. Or by enrolling yourself to some classes so that your mind can be diverted .

Even though the saying "Easier said than done" applies, by setting a goal in life like earning a living and willing to pay a price to achieve said goal, the desire to do stupid things like thinking evil goes away.

I agree with you. It takes a strong character to get rid of bad things.

anyrhing that is too much is not good.. just do it moderately for in the end of the day, its your body who will suffer. and i agree with addiction controlled by the brain.. if you think its no longer healthy, you know what to do..
