About those toilet papers and all that...

Ok...so we Indians don't use toilet papers. We use our left hand and water.
I know it sounds gross.
But that function itself is gross so ...
Me wonders why we presume that toilet paper is non-percolating unit, especially when it disintegrates on being flushed so that it does not clog the drain.
Effectively, some of the poop particles or the mucous does touch the hand. Agreed we wash our hands. So what is the difference? Touch only small amount or touch slightly more.
Is it better to use manufactured stuff rather than natural stuff? Manufacturing costs natural resources and results in pollution though it employs some. Some people are surely getting rich because of such faith in toilet paper.
But that is not what I wanted to say.
I wanted to say that I BELIEVE probability of Urinary Tract Infections and other fungal infections increase if the tush is not cleaned properly and I would not be happy with mere paper doing the job. I would like some medical personnel to confirm whether my this belief is or not misplaced.
I do use the darned toilet roll sometimes when I fear there is water shortage. But psychologically, it does not feel that good.
Unashamedly Indian.
I need water and soap for doing the job, and then good sanitizer for cleaning my hands.
I also know soap is more harmful than good for my skin...I also know that using sanitizer for cleaning my hands after the function regularly is not good. But I have started believing that without sanitizing ..my hands will not be clean enough. Sorry water.
So if you are grossed out...I apologize.
But I prefer no UTI, no fungal infections state... to the sense of decency.
I would like my beliefs shattered of course.
As Pony puts it "Life is a progressive learning process" or something to that effect.
By the way, this is a post inspired by Pony. I don't think he has the guts to come up with something this gross.

@vandana7 I fear something will remain .. then get in my panty and then travel up into my urinary system.
----------That's supposed to be a danger with thongs but far less worrisome with other types of underwear.

@vandana7 When we visited the United States with the intention to buy a vacation home, I always asked if it was possible to have a bidet installed in the main bathroom. The real estate agents (most of the time) said "you know, we take a shower every day"... to this I replies "you know, we also do, but I do not take a shower every time I go to pee or to poo..." I do not feel clean only using a piece of paper.

We use wet wipes. They clean very well. They can foul up the sewer or septic system; so we dispose of them as you would diapers...in a diaper pail.

Wet wipes ..yeah...they would be different. Dry toilet rolls, definitely inadequate. I even do not like the idea of moving to bidet. Especially if we may have you know loose motions. Then wet wipes perhaps. Though I tend to use toilet rolls exactly then. Diaper pail...hmmm. Makes sense.

We use bidet a water thing mainly without going into details a lot of flats the bathrooms have not had bidets installed in them so now they have to go to the expense of getting them put back in again.
That was when the toilet paper was in shortage.

I don't believe you especially after reading the end of your story. I've been to other countries and they do use toilet paper they just don't flush it down the toilet.

This just seems entirely gross to me, and even very much unsanitary for so many reasons. But I also understand people do things differently in other parts of the world. But I would have to presume that even with a good amount of soap and water, this is hugely prone to transmitting things like e.coli. Especially if one is preparing food at some point...which reminds me of another reason I do not eat Indian food. lol
