Why the second wave of Covid is taking more lives?

Our country is facing the second wave of covid virus, probably not the 19 version. We almost get out of the Covid 19 virus and most of the hospitals reported zero cases. Now on the second wave each and every hospital flooded with patients. Health workers who received both dozes of vaccination are not spared this time.
I heard the new variant of virus can super spread; patients may not show any symptoms like fever, body pain, cold etc. They might feel breathing problem then second day or third day declaring as dead.
In our place, weekend curfews enforced from last week. No idea whether this will help any way. Now massive tests are also going on. Many states are conducting elections, so this may be another reason for the super spread.
Schools started online like last year as it reopened for the new academic session.
Have to wait and watch how things will go?

The second wave is probably of a different variant where vaccines are not effective and this is my thinking Also people are not following protocol in the manner they should specially poiticians,. They do not lead by example.
