Can you take a joke?

If you can't laugh at yourself, then everyone will laugh at you even more. I think being able to take a joke about yourself is like a survival mechanism for the brain.
It shows you don't take yourself too seriously.
But there's one thing for some reason I just can't take a joke about and that is how clumsy I am. I am allowed to make a joke about it. But nobody else is. Not even my wife. I get really annoyed and snippy about it.
Probably because people have made fun of me for it for my whole life. People can call me fat, stupid, ugly or whatever. I don't care. But if you call me clumsy you're for it.
Can you take a joke about yourself? And is there any kind of joke that is off limits?

Yeah, unfortunately there's always one person who takes it too far.

Well. I`m not so sure what makes me feel uncomfortable with jokes. I just smile when someone made a joke

For the most part I can. It really does depend on the context of the joke though. Is it meant to be funny? Or is it meant to be insulting? The latter is off limits to me. Even still, I probably won't care. But the intent of the joke for me is what determines how I accept it.

That's fair. If someone's just trying to be hurtful it's not worth a reaction.

Yes it does us good to laugh and not take everything too serious.
It's difficult sometimes if you don't know it was meant as a joke. Like calling some fat might be consider by many as not funny at all. What do you think?
