Paper Plates

Back in the day, we used paper plates a lot. That was the time when we didn't have any household help. Both my mom and dad were working and my and my younger sister were still at school studying. No one among the family was crazy washing the dishes. Everyone was fine doing a different household chore. I didn't mind cleaning the house and by clean I mean sweeping the floor and dusting the furniture. My dad was fine tending the garden. My younger sister also helped by doing those small odd household chores. My mom took care of washing the laundry and doing the cooking. However, no one and I mean no one volunteered to do the dishes. We tried scheduling the task but everyone was trying to get away from doing it by giving excuses. Eventually, my mom settled the matter by purchasing paper plates. No more dishes to wash!!!
Now that I think of this story, I find it really funny. LOL!!!
Is there one chore that no one ever bothers to do in your household?

@allen0187 Honestly, this has been considered in my house! I don't mind doing the dishes but my brother is not good chipping in to help so my dad and I were almost at the point of buying paper plates for a much easier and reliable clean up!

Definitely worth the time you'll save not doing the dishes.

@allen0187 I do wonder sometimes if it would work out to save. You'll save on water but will the cost of the plates eventually be more than if you used the water? I wonder. I wish I could somehow work that out.

@VivaLaDani13 also consider the time that you'll be spending washing the dishes. That was something that we considered as well.

I always do the dishes in our family. I don`t have a choice. I cook and also cleans it myself. I have siblings but they hate it. You can ask them to clean their own bed but not the dishes. At least I get to learn how to wash the dishes

I hate almost all household chores. I do like to cook though but I donĀ“t like to wash pots later on.

A first - someone who would rather wash dishes than eat with paper plates.

@allen0187 For sure! I also wash my glasses and cups but I would never use the plastic ones.

As you grow older and on your own you accept chores more easily. Even the ones you hate doing as a kid. I never enjoyed raking leaves or mowing the lawn. But now with a home and yard to care for I do it without question. Kind of funny isn't it. Now, speaking of dishwashing it's nice to have a machine to do them for you. I didn't like doing dishes either but what kid does.
And speaking of dishwashing it's nice to have a machine to do them for me. Although I still buy paper plates to use to keep my bills reasonable. Guess dishes for me are still one chore I haven't learned to enjoy

Well, I wash dishes now when I have to. If I can though, I use paper plates.

@allen0187 I sweat a lot while doing it, and I don't like bending and reaching small places.

We used plastic wares because as a child back then, I was clumsy. I was also scheduled with cleaning the house. I manually polish the floor.

Sometimes I hate dishwashing. But then paper plates just add to the trash.

A small price to pay I guess if you really don't want to wash dishes.

I raised a big household of kids, my husband and I both worked. We had a dishwasher, and we used it. I detest paper plates. I want to eat off of a real plate. Plus I try hard to conserve resources, as I am one of those weird tree-hugger people. But to each his own. We all have preferences!

I'd rather wash dishes than cook. I dread it, though, on baking days. The bowls, trays, utensils with butter, dough, cream, frosting, etc... I soak some of them in the outdoor sink first.

Hahaha it is a great option! My sister bought an electric dishwasher but I don't like it because sometimes I think that the plates are not totally clean hahaha. I like to wash the dishes but I hate to clean dust

You are doing a better job cleaning dishes than the dish washer.
