There's Always Something When You Own A Home

Happy Friday Everyone! it's a beautiful sunny day here today but it's still too chilly to sit outside and enjoy my morning coffee. Next week looks a whole lot warmer so maybe spring will actually arrive and stay.
I'm really in a quandary about my deck. It needs to be stained and one board needs replacing. My son said he would do it on a Saturday but he's really bogged down with work and taking care of things at home since my daughter in law had her surgery.
With May right around the corner I'm basically running out of time since the next inspection will be June.
Maybe I'm worrying needlessly? But, I hate to hassle my son when I know he's so busy.
I was thinking of asking the HOA for an extension.
Then I was thinking maybe I would post on our group Facebook page that the person who originally was going to do it might not be able to so do they have any recommendations for someone I could hire to do it.
Of course my son works cheap (actually for nothing ) and I have no idea what it would cost me to get the deck done as per the HOA.
Maybe I'm just driving myself crazy
I guess it will all work out however it's meant to.
In the meantime, today is laundry day since I didn't do it yesterday.
Maybe the biggest decision I have to make today is...what to make for dinner.
Hope you're having a good day and something fun over the weekend

Yep - always something is right. I hope you can get your deck done soon, whomever ends up doing it. But I know cost is a consideration too. You are lucky your son can do that kind of work. We just forked out to get our yard walls done . Grocery day right after I finish this comment . You have a good day/weekend too!!

I'm always looking to save money when I can and my son is very capable of doing this kind of thing. I would hate to spend the money and not know who I'm getting to do the job and if they'll do it right.
Tomorrow is grocery day for us too. I feel like we're always buying groceries
Have a great weekend!!

My main concern is her well being and that she has a good recovery. So we'll see what happens in the next week or so

I'm sure we'll work it out somehow. My poor daughter in law is really a mess from her surgery and can't be home alone. My son will need at least one of his boys to help him. Back in the good old days I could have done this myself. Getting old really sucks

@Marilynda1225 Your poor DIL. Perhaps you should spend the bucks and hire someone afterall or ask for an extension.

@DianneN I'll probably give it another week before I make a decision.

we have until June to do ours so I'm sure it will get done at some point. Your lucky your son in law did yours. I wish we didn't have wood decks here and that they had used Trek instead.

Yes, no shortage of ways to spend your money when you own a house. So glad we don't have HOA inspections around here. This house can hardly even be seen from the road like 6 months out of the year.

I don't mind living with an HOA because the perks outweigh the cons for me.
My son practically rebuild my deck in 2019 but last year he couldn't come back and stain it because of the pandemic. I'm just hoping he can find the time now but I understand if he can't do it in the allotted time.

Wow, you have to get your house inspected by the HOA? Another great reason to live where I do.
Oh, well, I hope you get that situation sorted out quickly.
One of my best friends is taking me out for my birthday tomorrow, so that’ll be fun. You have a great day!!!!!

@Marilynda1225 — thanks for the birthday wishes. I guess there are upsides to HOA, but for me it wouldn’t work. Plus, I’m too old to move.

@FourWalls when I moved here I said it was my last move and I wouldn't accumulate a lot of stuff. Here I am sorting and decluttering so I guess it's hard not to have too much stuff. I shudder at the thought of moving.

Have a wonderful birthday!!! enjoy your day tomorrow with your best friend. Sounds like a great way to celebrate your birthday.
We have inspections of the outside of our homes (I live in a community) and they are particular that everyone makes sure their house and property isn't neglected. This is the first time I've gotten a notice that something needs to be done. Living in an HOA community isn't for everyone but it does have it's perks too.

This is the first time I've had to deal with a notice from the HOA and it wouldn't be a problem if time wasn't an issue.

Thankfully I haven't had much to do since I moved here. Most of the stuff I want to do now is just on my wish list but not anything that needs doing.
