How Lazy Are You?

We are all guilty of being lazy but every rule has an exception. There are the few who cannot remain quiet at all.
For me, it is not being lazy but how I get out of that rut. While I was working I had relied on a different type of motivation to what I do now after having been retired.
At work, I had to meet stiff deadlines and keep up to date with latest developments. I did not want to cut a sorry figure in front of others and hence took care that I was on top of issues. I prioritized what to do and that saw to it that I fared alright to work for forty five years without a break.
Now that I am retired, I do not have to report to others but still cannot get away from deadlines be they making payments on time, responding to family commitments. That is life anyway.
I can say I have hardly stretched my legs as something or other keeps me busy, alive, and on the ball. I have been reducing my activities so that I have time in reserve to pursue those I had to put on the back burner like reading though it is more of online stuff now.
The sum and substance is I have no choice but to be active with occasional breaks when I take things easy till I am jolted out of my reverie.
So being lazy has not been an option for me!
Is being lazy an option for you? How do you motivate yourself?

I rely on my old self to get me going. I imagine I am young once again and this moves me along

@AkoPinay I believe you, just like my son who doesn't go out of his room because he is busy looking for ways to earn money in his computer. I oftentimes scold him and tell him he's lazy and he answers back saying I am looking for ways to be rich. Oh dear.

being lazy may reflect a lack of self-esteem, a lack of positive recognition by others, a lack of discipline stemming from low self-confidence, or a lack of interest in the activity or belief in its efficacy. being lazy may manifest as procrastination or vacillation. but can be an option, if you don't want to be lazy you have to Take small steps toward better self-care, increased energy, improved goals, and healthy boundary setting can help you stop feeling lazy in no time. Prioritizing and taking consistent action steps are the key to long-term change and there is no better time than now to take those first steps.

Yes I have to admit that I do feel lazy especially when it's too hot outside. I don't like working under the hot sun. It just depletes my energy. How do I motivate myself? I just tell myself that nobody else will do my chores for me. If I won't do it everything will pile up and I would be only one to suffer.

I do not mind a lazy afternoon, now, and again.
Poetry: A Lazy Afternoon
Procrastination is not a destination.
Laziness is not delayed satisfaction.
Curing both is just a matter of love.
Loving life above all, is all, in full action.
Nothing wrong with a lazy afternoon,
but a lazy life only gets you in strife.
It is harder to forgive & forget neglect,
but not listening to love, is not to collect.
Resting. A part of life, not to postpone.
A lazy morning earned is not one spurned.
The lazy person cannot enjoy his rest.
The test of vigilance, to him, is just a pest.
An afternoon's leisure gives pleasure.
A life of idleness is a life unmeasured.
To do nothing at all is not being lazy.
A lazy afternoon is not to all too crazy.

@Shiva49 Thanks, siva. I tend to be lazy about being lazy.
When I feel lazy, I do not like it so much, as I think that I am wasting time, and yet I like to spend some time to work out what is the best use of my time before I begin too.
We all need to sleep, and nobody would call sleeping laziness, so taking a nap, is a small refresher, and not laziness, I would say too.
Sometimes, I am low in energy, lethargic even, but I would not call that laziness either. When the bugle calls, I try to always obey its call, as with you never letting an opportunity pass you by.

@innertalks Laziness is also part of enjoying life I think.
Life is not worth fretting about all the time.
I tend to chew the cud of my past than wish it away.
I am now more selective in what I do as the luxury of time at my disposal is running out!

That is poetry on demand Steve, thanks.
I listen to the body but do not give in to its demands easily.
I take a nap in the afternoon when I am at home - does it also fall under the ambit of laziness?
If I am too busy upon retirement, am I a busybody?
Back to my square one - balance in whatever I do has been my key to staying sane.
I have a mantra - never let an opportunity to help pass but be wise to suss out when I can chip in.
Living in love is the best guide although loving people does not come easy during pandemic times as safe distancing is on the air lest we get carried away!

@Shiva49, I love to do the same will like yours and your must to things you wanted to accomplish, however, if it is laziness to stop and sigh in doing things that need to be done and slows you down because of fear of going out, facing people that will not satisfy your asking but will make things worst. This pandemic has caused me a lot of worries to look farther in the future.

Yes, this pandemic has been a dampener.
It is has cast a long shadow over most activities.
What we took for granted has become a burden to get things done like going shopping.
Of course, there are online alternatives but they are not the real deal in terms of meeting people.
We have found out money cannot be of much help now as the enemy is unseen and can be stalking us!

@macayada I think there is an unseen hand trying to correct our course as we went overboard with our ego, greed, and selfishness. Some thought with money they can lord over others but now they are brought down to earth with a thud.
The best way ahead is to cooperate and coexist. What for all these nuclear arsenal when our lives are so fickle and fragile even otherwise?

@Shiva49 Yes, very much true. An eye opener for everyone that a minute enemy is like david and goliath of this time of ours. The goliath is the greedy character of the people and the david is the unseen trying to change this bad character, the same who made us realize how the populous could be immobilized. There is nothing we can do but to change for the better, realize the lesson in the situation. Money can't buy life but helping can extend the length of life.
