Herding Cats

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Kentucky, blue skies, sunshine and the slightest breeze to keep the heat down.
One of the best places to be on a day such as this is a baseball game. The game I was at yesterday morning was T-Ball and the team is made up of four year olds playing for the first time. Hence the “herding cats” analogy. I’m telling you, those cute little uniformed darlings were EVERYWHERE! One of them was my great grandson who hit the ball the first time, then ran and retrieved it while holding tightly to his bat. When his team took the field, they took their positions as instructed by their long suffering coach. When the first ball left the bat, the whole team chased it down and jumped in a pile on top of it. This left first base uncovered, which I am convinced is the only reason our pride and joy, emerging from the pile with the ball, ran as hard as he could and proudly placed it on the T.
There is one little girl on the team and our Oaklee is thoroughly smitten with her. At one point during the game he caught her eye and proceeded to gyrate in a cross between belly dancing and a dog trying to shake himself dry. I thought his daddy was going to die!
Amid high fives and see you laters on the way to the parking lot, mommies sorted out hats and gloves that had gotten switched in the chaos and daddies plotted to have a practice session soon. From the vantage point of this old great grandma, a good time was had by all!

You would be right! Being stuck inside so much for the past year has made me appreciate just being out among people so much more than I used to.

Thank you, it was great fun! His dad is quiet so he was embarrassed by the public dance routine but he’s very laid back when it comes to discipline.

You are quite a storyteller. Oaklee sounds like a sweetheart.

That is a very significant story in the life of a grandmother - to witness a grandchild play baseball for the first time with his fellow four-year old team. Must be so wonderful.
And you recorded that story pretty well. Love it.
I like the title also. Good analogy. And the photo - adorable.
But you have to enter tags so you could gather more responses. Edit the post and put 5 tags - children, baseball, etcetera. The tags will appear in green on top of your discussion.

That would be a lot of fun to watch. I remember when my two youngest boys were in T-ball. I think my husband had more fun with it than the boys did.

As aggravating as kids can be at times they can also be an absolute delight!

Oh, no! Don't tell me you kidnapped that handsome young man after the game?
Somebody's going to go to jail... (At least you picked the cute one to kidnap! )
