When @Dena91 asked for a countdown of Motown favorites of mine she probably didn’t know what she was getting into. Welcome to today’s “never heard of it” entry on the list of favorite Motown tunes.
#9: Two Lovers - Mary Wells
Nothing you can say can take me away from my guys!!!
While Mary Wells’ biggest hit and lasting legacy was her hit “My Guy,” she did many more songs. And what do I do? I run right past “My Guy” for the obscure song.
This song has a great punch line to it, which I won’t give away. I’m sure there are people who can relate to the punch line, though, because we all have this problem once in a while.
Two Lovers
Written by Smokey Robinson
Recorded by Mary Wells

It’s one of the sad things about “oldies” stations: all you hear from Mary Wells anymore is “My Guy,” but she had a number of other hits, including this one.
