Day 266 Promise 734 1 John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you who believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Records show the truth. Whether it’s a birth certificate or evidence given in a court of law, records will bear out the truth. John told the believers God’s record bore the truth of their salvation because they believed in Jesus and accepted Him as Savior and Lord. He also showed that those who didn’t believe did not receive eternal life. As Christians, you know eternal life is yours because you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Your name is written in God’s record, the Book of Life. Both David and Moses mentioned God’s book. Psalm 139:16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. (KJV) Exodus 32:32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. 33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever, hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. John mentions the Book of Life in Revelation. Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (KJV) God has more than one record. One shows every name of every believer. Everyone whose name is in the book of life has eternal life. He is precise in who will not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defiles, neither whatsoever works abomination, or makes a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life. Is your name in God’s record for eternal life? Or is your name in the other book of judgment? Let’s pray: Father, let Your record show my name in Your book. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
