I got recently asked if I would rent out my house for a pool party they only want to pay $250 but once I have 40 people at the house and do a video shoot do you think this is reasonable? They want to go ahead and make food and salad at the party as well. I’m just worried about things getting broken and 40 people is a lot of people to come at our house. It is only 3500 ft.². I think it would be fun and all but I’m just worried about things getting broke and even if that’s a reasonable price that they’re offering to use my house. Do you think that they’re better off getting an Airbnb or maybe a hotel penthouse or something. I do you wanna make some money but is it wise or not. Don’t get me wrong I love meeting new people and having a good time. I’m just wondering if I should be charging more.

I would recommend them getting an air BandB or renting some other venue. Unless you regurally rent your house out, I wouldn't do it.

I'd want to know what the insurance situation looks like. If they're shooting a video, do they have liability insurance to cover all of their equipment, any potential damages they cause to your property or injuries their guests sustain while there, etc? Or are they expecting that to fall on your insurance policy? How long are they expecting to have access to the property? $250 seems to be a very low offer for what they want, all things considered.

You make some excellent thoughts that I didn’t even think of.

If you are not interested in rent/ money, it would be better not to rent out your house.

Why they want your house on rent if you think it's not big enough to accomodate 40 people?
If you are not comfortable with it you may ask for more charges as it would not be good to straightly denying them that you don't want to give your house on rent.

I wouldn't be comfortable to do so if I don't know them well. I would be concerned about the damage and mess such parties can bring
But if you need money, you can think of it as a good opportunity. Maybe make it in a professional way of renting with clear guidelines and rules set like an official contract. Not sure how it works out there. Can be a good business opportunity for you.

They wnat to rent your house which means your house is a good place to them for the party. Why not try to talk to them for a higher price If you think the price they wanna give you is too low?

It's fine if there are no restrictions related to Covid at least you will be making some money out of it
