Israel - Palestine

The situation in the middle east has reached a tipping point in the last few days. Have you seen/followed what's going on? I'm curious to see how everybody feel about it, what are your opinions? Do you think Israel is oppressing Palestine and killing innocent people? Or maybe Hamas is using their position to make it look like Israel is ruthless but they are actually the ones attacking innocent citizens in Israel? Nothing is black and white, that's for sure. I feel like there are no winners in a war. Both sides are the wrong side. Nothing good can come out of it. What do you think?

I watched the video and it is horrible. Hard to believe that such kind of things are still available today. I hope people will learn from World War II and this should not happen again.

@youless That would be nice and dandy if people learned from what happened in the 2nd World War or what we Jews call the Holocaust where we lost 6 million Jews or more and among them were 1.5 million children. People have not learned anything and will not until they learn not to hate us because we are Jews and for those of us that live in Israel which was once called Palestine they hate this country and what it stands for.

@Yoni115 There is no Palestine. Before Israel became Israel it was known as Palestine and us Jews here were called Palestinians. We have every right to defend ourselves against our enemy not like most news places say. I check out Arutz Sheva online when I want to know news about Israel. We are the victims because our enemies do not want us here even though we have been here thousands of years. We want peace and they do not. Hamas uses their own people as shields and blames us like Abbas does. I am sorry Yoni but we have not done anything wrong. We are only defending ourselves against our enemies. I live here in Israel and I feel going in and out is not the answer about Gaza and that something has to be done.

I'm just trying to see what people think around the world outside of the traditional media. It is a very complicated and twisted situation. I'm Israeli and live in Israel too and hoping for better days.

@Yoni115 I understand but you will get probably many views here and some may not be very nice. it is a very hard situation for us here and hard for so many to understand what it is like when a majority hates you for what you are and does not think our country has the right to defend itself and how a lot of the media portrays our country. You will always get those that follow along and have no clue what they are talking about will side with the enemy against us because they not only hate Israel but us Jews as well.

@Hannihar I can't judge someone that doesn't live here for their opinions, they don't know and they haven't experienced it. But talking about it and hearing/expressing opinions is important.

Hello! Welcome to myLot. Enjoy the site! Although it's not obligatory, it would be a good idea to add the name of your country to your account page to make your posts more understandable. I don't think that anyone here can come up with a solution to end the conflict as the two sides haven't been able to find one for decades.

Hello, thank you! I'm of course not looking for a solution here, I am just wondering what people think and how they see the situation. It is undoubtedly a super complex situation and no one can really find a solution that easily. But discussion is important :)

I feel so bad for Palestinians. They are going through such hard times.I prayed for them. They were attacked in a Holy month and in a holy place. If the Israelites want war why can't they go in a proper way? Instead of attacking innocent people ? I feel that the Israelites have no human inside them.

You are coming from the wrong side. The Israelites are the innocent party.

It's actually much more complicated than that. Both sides attack innocent people. Israel actually warn the citizens in Gaza before every attack and ask them to leave their buildings, leaving them enough time to leave before attacking. The reason is that Hamas uses citizens' homes and buildings to store weapons and to launch rockets. Israel gets surprise rockets on homes and in cities, innocent kids are being killed. So the situation is really twisted and complex, most Israelis are sane and only want to live at peace, I believe it's the same with innocent Palestinian citizens.

Not entirely;y sure what going on over there. But I do see they are in a state of war. and it's affecting the livelihoods of the common people over there. And that's sad. Plus it's a very sensitive matter to actually comment on.

The situation isn't really that complex. Human society in general, not just in this conflict but throughout history, in countries around the world, have been involved in these struggles. War and strife started as a direct result of a decision made by our first parents - namely that they wanted to decide for themselves what was 'right' and what was 'wrong' - they didn't want to answer to anyone, particularly their Creator. In Jeremiah 10:23 it states, ' I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.' Ecclesiastes 8:9 says, 'man has dominated man to his injury' We simply don't have the right or ability to rule over each other. Only the Creator has the right (and ability) to tell us what is good or bad. Unless we accept that, and work with it, peace will elude mankind.

It doesn't make it less complex. This conflict is an endless cycle of struggles. We may not have the "right" to rule over each other, but but it is not a situation of one people ruling over the other. It IS much more complex than that.

We don't really pay attention because there are world police and the United Nations who will take care of it
