Relationships with an age gap

I am currently married to a man who is 14 years younger than me. We have been together for 7 years, married almost 4. It can definitely be trying at times. It is normal when it is the man who is older, however, there is definitely a double standard when it is the woman. Things were sort of crazy at first, but things have settled and are becoming more "normal", whatever that means. Anyway, I am here for questions or to give out advice.

I don´t have the experience of having a partner younger than myself. But I have always had men older than myself and I never minded it.

I am 7 years older than my wife, we have been married for 35 years, and I can tell you that these age gaps are not that important. You have to know how to understand yourself and know how to say things in time. As for whether the man is the oldest or the woman, my wife always says that it is better when the man is older, since the woman shows his aging more and the man will be more likely to have an affair. I don't think so, I think this is 50 vs 50.

@Purpz28 In the end I think the important thing is to understand each other and for that the age barriers do not matter.

My cousin was in a relationship with a woman once. She was old enough to be his mother. He even married her. But that didn't last long and now he is married to someone closer to his age.
Age is just a number. If you have a connection and have things in common and there is love then the age difference doesn't matter. The only issue is how well people are physically. Older people may not have as much strength for things as younger ones. Also, if one person is much older then possibly that person will pass away much sooner than the other person and time spent together will be shorter.

@Purpz28 It may seem weird when there is a very big age difference between two people but if the relationship is great that's what's important.

Thank you for that.
It is marked as some kind of taboo by our society.
I have no idea why.
