Stitch Sampler

United States

I am not in the habit of making samplers / swatches for any new stitches I learn. I wouldn't necessarily call this a sampler either, because I am not sure I'll keep it. The picture is of the waffle stitch. You see here both the front and back (I've folded it over so you can see both). It's a lot simpler than I thought it would be. Oh, and I don't know why the yarn is showing as gray, it's a lilac. Waffle stitch is done using the front post double crochet. Whatcha think?

It looks like pale lilac to me... Is something wrong with my vision?

It should be brighter than this. Not sure why the camera is showing it as GRAY

@ScribbledAdNauseum Okay, after you take a photo you can... I don't want to say "adjust" the photo, but that's what other people call it. *sigh* What you're really doing is showing it in it's true "to you" colors. Do you understand what I'm talking about and have you ever looked to see how a photo will look if you do this? It's a setting you make on your phone before you send the photo to myLot.

@DaddyEvil er, filters? I don't really mess with the settings that often. I take panoramic shots sometimes though. *shrug*

Thanks! I will make a full dish cloth a little later today. I am letting my wrist rest for now.

@Marty1 Crocheting, like any needlecraft, can be taxing on the wrist and fingers. It's the wrist that supports the yarn that hurts the most.

@Marty1 Thank You! I am taking adequate rest between and making sure I exercise the wrist.

I like it. That's one stitch that I never did when I was crocheting. Is the left section the front?

Yeah, that's what I would consider the front. It's just a series of double crochets and front post double crochets. On one row you do two double crochets, on the other you do two front post double crochet's.

@MarshaMusselman I like the stitch because it raises the piece, making the pattern more defined.

@MommyOfEli2013 We'll see. I have a few other ideas that came to me while I was reading. I have to find patterns, but I have some spare yarn to test with.

That’s beautiful. I don’t know how to make that waffle stitch. That photo looks like a pot holder. I like it.

It would have been a full potholder if I hadn't run out of skein. I know how to add yarn, but didn't feel like doing that. The waffle stitch is easy. It's a series of double crochets and front post double crochets.
