The Brit was recommended to me by a friend who I actually just got her turned onto this author's books.
Usually I'm the first to read one of Jodi's new books between my friend and I but this time she beat me to it.
I finally got around to it and I have to admit that she was right. This is one of the best ones Jodi has written yet.
It's incredibly dark for her and she definitely keeps you guessing until the end. Not many can pull the ending plot twist like she did but it was amazing.
Rose Cassidy and Danny Black didn't have the most traditional childhood. Not even a happy one.
Rose was taken and made a sex slave. At 15 she was pregnant and the boy taken from her. For years she was at her boss's beck and call, doing what she needed to do to make sure her boy was safe and to see even a glimpse of his life.
Her latest assignment, a politician that her boss wants in the Mayor's seat. Her job was just to screw and keep collecting information about his dealings. She wasn't supposed to be taken from him in a poker game.
Danny Black, child of abuse and poverty. As a child he was abused and bullied until a stranger takes him under his wing to teach him the ways of his empire. His empire could rival that of a mafia, Black was that good when it came to his businesses.
Once he died however, the empire fell to Danny to take over. Danny wanted the same politician in the mayor's seat but he wanted the marina as well. He just didn't know someone else was after the same things.
When Danny took Rose after a bad poker game to hold as captive until the guy came through with the marina sale, he didn't expect to see so much of himself looking back at him. He most certainly did not expect to come to care for the wh*re.
They both knew who they were. It should never have worked out. The obstacles in their way should have stopped them cold.
Get the book and keep reading until you unwrap all the layers. Things are never what they appear to be on the surface.
This book will keep you turning the page from start to finish. You aren't even promised a happy ending in this one.

Sounds like a good plot but definitely too dark.

I kind of like dark. I really think it was her best book yet.

@JordanLader I try to avoid them. But if it's good and engaging with a good writing style I don't mind reading it.
