Covid Struck Again

No, I didn't get Covid for a third time, but I did finally go and get my first shot. It was the Moderna shot. And it knocked me on my a$$ for nearly three days. It's been a week now, and my head still doesn't feel right. Now I'm worried about going back in mid-June for my second shot. But I'm going to do it anyway, even though I know that this stupid virus owns me right now. My immune system needs to get its act together and figure out how to take control of this virus. I'm tired of this virus getting the upper hand each time. Anyone else care to share their experiences getting the first or second shot?

We both received the Moderna vaccine about four months ago. They first one, we did just fine. The second shot, we both felt a little under the weather. Now, we're doing fine.

They told me that since I had recently had the virus that the first shot would probably kick my butt. And it did. They were not liars. lol

I’m so sorry. I had zero problems with Moderna and hubs had zero problems with Pfizer. Perhaps you are a very delicate boy.

It's weird, because I've always had such a strong immune system throughout my life, and then one little virus comes along and turns my world upside down. It's crazy!

@moffittjc That 19 did you in. Hope the next shot isn’t bad. At least you will have a better chance of remaining Covid free.

Wow, I know those that already got it didn't have any problems except during the first night where they had experienced flu-like symptoms but it did not last several days. Did you ask your doctor why it lasted that long on you?

Like DE said, I'm a little girl and I complain a lot! haha Actually, my doctor was the one who said that he expected me to get really sick after the first shot, since I just recently had the virus.

I got my first moderna shot a week ago and it knocked me down too. They say if you had covid you would get side effects with the first shot and not the second one, I hope that's true. I get my 2nd shot on June 11th.

I've heard the same thing. I'm hoping what I'm hearing about the second shot is true. I get my second shot on June 15.

@Blondie2222 I just realized my son's high school graduation is June 18th, so there's no way I'm going to get the second shot a few days before that when there is a chance I could get sick. So I will push back the second shot until about June 21st or 22nd.

Jeff, I know that you have had covid twice and that you were awfully sick with it, but your comment that it owns you made me laugh out loud-thank you for that. I hear more about the Phizer vaccines up here, and of course those who have suffered heart attacks from the A-Z shots which Health Canada banned. I had the Phizer shot recently, it made my arm swell down to the wrist and turn bright red. It is still pink, but no other side effects. I hope that you feel better soon.

I wanted the Pfizer shot, and that's what my local pharmacy was offering up until recently, and then they switched to Modern. Everybody has been telling me that the Moderna shot hits you the worst out of all of them. I had the choice between Modern and Johnson & Johnson, but I had no plans to go anywhere near that J&J vaccine. Been hearing too many bad stories about it.

@moffittjc The J&J one and done idea is wonderful, but the quality control results on that shot are terrible. I have heard that the after effects from the moderna vaccine are rough. The alternative, which would be the Astra-Zeneca shot has a bad track record. I personally know of someone who's Dad, who is in his early 60's had the A-Z shot and shortly after that he had a heart attack. The heart attack was due to his heart being full of blood clots, none of which can be removed, all of which they attribute to the brand of vaccine he received. I feel so badly for him. He worked his entire career, retired, moved from out west to our province so that he and his wife could be closer to their 2 grown sons, and found a new place to buy, and then took the wrong vaccine. There is so much research that needs to be done on that front.

@Juliaacv That's such terrible news to hear. I wish we had more time available to study the vaccines more closely before releasing them publicly. But we kinda had our backs against the wall so to speak, and governments and pharmaceutical companies had to weigh the risks against the benefits.

I had no problems with the Pfizer shots. And I don't understand, all of the doctors I have heard and talked to say if you have had the virus you don't need the vaccines. Good luck!

What I've been hearing is 50-50 needing the vaccine and not needing it. Everyone agrees that I have natural immunity, but nobody can agree on how long I will have that natural immunity. So some say I need to get the shot to boost the immunity, and some say I can wait 6 months to a year. But since work is currently offering a $150 bonus for getting the shot, I figured I'd go for it and get the shot so I can collect the bonus.

Well I didn’t get Moderna but a few family members did. Some didn’t feel sick at all for the first but they did the second. One said they felt flu like for a week. I had the Johnson and Johnson which for like a day I felt like the flu and just tired for 3-4 days and then was fine. My husband just felt sleepy he has Pfizer and his second shot knock him out for a day.

I have heard the moderna one seems to have worse side effects. We had Pfizer and it wasnt too bad. Sore arm both times. Very tired a few hours after the second shot. And then a few days later felt like I had a bad head cold was all.

Yes, my doctor said that Moderna has the worst side effects of them all. I was hoping to get the Pfizer shot, but it seems that every place around here has switched to Moderna. In the beginning, Pfizer was the only vaccine available here in my area, but now it seems that only Moderna is available now.

I got my first shot 2 days ago of Aztra Zeneca. My shoulders hurt a bit. I thought I am going to have fever because I felt hot the night after the shot, I just drank lots of cold water. I felt like I want to sleep (but I am blaming my lack of sleep the night before) but after having enough sleep, the net day I still feel sleepy

If the vaccine gives you a fighting chance of staying alive and not dying from the virus, then I say it's worth the risk.

I didn't nor do I plan to recieve the shot. My husband and I don't believe in unnessary vaccine, when we'll do fine taking our chances with the infection, itself. COVID is no different than any other virus. Everyone's immune system isn't the same. I'll respect your choice to get it, but my guess the reason you're so ill is because you have an active case of COVID as a result of getting the vaccine, because that's just how your body decided to respond.

My arm was sore after the first shot, and I was a little tired, but I also got my shot in the evening (at our local pharmacy). The same for my second shot, also in the evening, but as the next day progressed, I felt more body aches and fatigue. But I was fine by the next day. Just stay hydrated and rest as much as possible.

I'm sorry you had a bad reaction to the shot. Do you reckon it had anything to do with having Covid twice? I had Moderna and with the first one I hurt like I had the worst flu ever for several days. But with the second one, no problem at all! Hopefully you'll do fine with your second shot.
