Last May 21, our mayor was declared as infected with the covid 19 virus.
Being in constant association with the mayor I was asked by our health doctor as to when was the last time I was with him. I honestly informed them that I haven't been in personal communication with the mayor for almost a week and that the last time we did was only for a few seconds when he dropped by my office.
I was advised to inform the health unit once I experienced symptoms.
On May 24 I got an early call from one of the health workers that I must go on a home quarantine, I told her that my work is very essential and I don't feel any symptom. Upon reaching the office, I got another call from a contact tracer and asking about my bio, I told him to inquire from the HR department. I hate it when people get my bio over the phone.
I did not report to work in the afternoon of May 24 because these people want me to go home quarantine. Before the end of the day I got a call from the secretary of the Vice mayor requesting me to attend the meeting he is calling, he being the acting mayor wants to meet us members of the Local Finance. I told the secretary that I will not face any people because I am on home quarantine and we can have the meeting thru zoom .
On May 25, we had a virtual meeting of which they demand a lot of things. I told them I am on home quarantine and I cannot report to the Office. The health doctor who was present in the meeting told me that I can already report to work because I am considered low risk.
It goes to show that since they need my services I must report to work and keeping aside the safety health protocol they initially imposed on me.

@florelway don't tell them that you have symptoms of covid just tell them you have a viral fever

@allen0187 I know their motives. They want to implement what they want because the mayor is under isolation.

There is a lack of consistency. Does your work consists of anything that you need to go in somewhere and operate, without which nothing happens??
Else if it is more of administrative, clerical, paperwork or something that can be done on computer systems, why the need to attend the office always?

Many of the financial institutions have made arrangements for paperless transactions.
Even for signatures, one can sign on a paper, scan the image and use the image as a digital signature.

There's a check that needs to be signed but then backlog is not caused by my Office. Actually I know that transaction can wait until next week. These people do not understand. If there are payments or emergency purchases, I can always arrange with suppliers. They want to prove something while they are in power for one week. They're the virus that's deadlier than corona. Power hungry.

@florelway They are selfish. I am glad you didn’t feel any symptoms. Have a nice Sunday.

Their method of detecting is doubtful. Those with ordinary cold symptoms are sometimes detected as infected. Bacteria against virus.

@florelway Yes, even many tests that show they are negative, people are actually infected.

@Nevena83 you are right. And once healed they still have to be careful.

Our scheduled sanitation of our building last Wednesday was put off because due to the rising positive cases we have to prioritize places with heavy traffic like public market. We went back to our weekly disinfection every Friday afternoon.

Usually if ten days had already passed with no symptoms I wouldn't think quarantining would make much difference. If you showed symptoms though it wouldn't matter how essential your job was.
Did this happen recently or a year ago?

@florelway if they decide something out should stay that way no matter what your job is.

Just a few days ago, when cases went up. Last year we almost had zero case on a monthly average. Didn't have symptoms but seems they're more worried.

That's it. Because one department demanded my presence ,the health protocol is disturbed, and one has become lax.

Exactly. Some people are simply overacting. The reason of being quarantined is to avoid exposure to other people, but when they ask me to report to work they're again exposing me to many people. yet they are monitoring me if I have symptoms.

Yes, indeed. Temporary power is dangerous. I am talking of some people who took the reins because our mayor is under isolation.
