The picture is of the first jackfruit we bought for the season. Jackfruits are very common in our area. This is the season for this tropical fruit. I just went through a video highlighting the benefits of the fruit health wise. It is very good for those who suffer from diabetics. There are 2 types of this fruit one is dry and other is juicy. Dry one is supposed to be better than juicy one both in taste and health benefits. While juicy one can be opened with bare hands, dry ones need a sharp knife to cut it open. Cost wise dry ones are costlier. The one we have bought weighs about 3 kgs. We paid about $3.00 for the piece. It will get fully ripe by tomorrow. Is fresh jackfruits available in your area?

@allknowing In villages of Goa here this fruit is wasted like anything although it can be preserved in various forms and can get a good market for that.

These fruits doesn't have much value in our part of the world but they are very costly in western part of the world where it is not available fresh.

I just saw a clip on that. It claims that it is very good for diabetes and particularly when it is yet to ripe and consumed as vegetable.
