@rsa101 I add the water conditioner when I clean and add water to their tank. I think it helps them adjust quicker and keeps them from getting sick.
I have guppies and corydoras in my tank. I see guppies in your tank. Do you also have mollies in your tank?

How many fish have you got in your aquarium? Any turtle?

@eileenleyva That's true the weekly maintenance is like a play to me but it is physically challenging trying to clean it. You have to maintain balance not to make it super clean since that may affect the well-being of the fish and the plant's growth but you should remove the algae growth for aesthetics well. Since it is not in a natural setting there is a tendency that anything can go wrong so you have to keep watch on many things from water Ph levels to ammonia spikes and the likes.

@rsa101 That is a hobby difficult to maintain. You do have the patience. But I suppose that it's the therapeutic feeling of watching the guppies and the mollies that is truly gratifying.

Once a week is quite frequent. We used to clean the glass with cotton and that gave the aquarium a clean look and did the maintenance now and then.

@allknowing Yeah that was it used to be. In my Grandfathers' tank, they would clean it for a very long time. But now, I do not know why fish gets sickly if we do not clean the tank often. Plants too are quite demanding nowadays that they require bright lights and at times it needs to be fed with CO2.

@rsa101 We never had a pump and nor did we clean the tank that frequently. We had fish called scavenger that cleaned the droppings.

I've gone lazy when it comes to maintenance. This one fish tank has some really thick algae that it takes a while to remove. even some of my small ponds starts having this kind of algae.

I can understand that especially you have a pond to maintain too. I don't have a pond and mine is just a ten-gallon tank only that is why it's easy to maintain weekly. Anyway, I find it therapeutic doing this even though it's a physically tedious chore but I find it relaxing afterwards.
