Chicken Soup for My Soul

It is not cold today. In fact, it was sunny at 18C but I was craving for chicken soup and I made it from scratch. I had frozen chicken broth with chicken meat flakes in it and so it was very handy. I added vegetables that I still had in the fridge and some Asian noodles. It was good and it warmth my tummy. What veggies do you usually add to your chicken soup? Do you add eggs in it? I was invited today to go shopping with my friends in the mall but I declined. I didn’t even know that the malls are open now. I don’t like to shop on Saturdays as I am sure many people are shopping. I don’t want to risk my health. I don’t have to buy anything anyway. Anyway, I prefer to walk in the nature than shopping. When the weather is good tomorrow, I will walk again. Just like you, I do not like to shop on Saturdays, too many people in the stores. I never make chicken soup, but we like a vegetable soup called "minestrone", the more vegetables you have the better it tastes.

My father and my brother love chicken soup. My mom doesn’t add vegetables to it. Yes, it is best to be safe while the crowds last while shopping.

@Nevena83 Does your mother kill the chicken herself? My mother did when we still had chickens at home in the Philippines. Have a relaxing evening now. I have to go to bed a few minutes from now. I am almost done with the notifications. Goodnight.

@thelme55 Yes, my mom has been making homemade chicken soup all her life because we always had our chickens and she often leaves a piece of meat for the soup in the freezer and when she cooks it, she just adds salt and spices. I had a little busy day because my brother was there, but now I’m resting because he’s gone.

That sounds good! I put carrots, celery, green onions, garlic, tomato and spices in my chicken noodle soup. We just mowed our front yard. The grass in the back yard is still too wet to mow.

Chicken soup looks delicious, you are right I also prefer to stay at home on Saturday Sunday, a boring weekend but it is better than a crowded place, I am not that comfortable in a crowded place.

@thelme55 It is called Avogo Lemono or something similar. I made it once and it was delicious the first day. But it congealed and got to be inedible after it was refrigerated,..not sure what I did wrong.

I love egg in my soup, it's a healthy addition. I usually like a lot of onion in mine along with corn, peas, carrots and green beans.

I use frozen vegetables, where I live it is so dry that most vegetables do not grow very well on a large scale. I usually buy the mixed vegetable blend when I need more.

@thelme55 I will! It will be several days because I need to wait for the yarn to arrive. I may buy a skein of the white cotton yarn when I go to the store on Tuesday too. It's getting warmer so a soup is not something I am looking to make, but I enjoy them during the cooler months.

I went for a car drive with my friend and we stopped at the Rhine river walking along the promenade and observing the boats passing by going to and from the Netherlands. It was a nice sunny day. Thank you @Rashnag. Have a nice new week.

Nothing special plan on the weekend. I don't make chicken soups at home instead order it from outside . They mix just chicken pieces in it. I liked the idea of adding vegetables and noodles in it. I think adding egg will make it better in the taste.

I always make my chicken soup from scratch. I use a whole fresh chicken, celery, carrots, parsnips, onion, and lately a garlic clove or two. I always keep some on hand in the freezer. I only use egg noodles or matzo balls in mine. Enjoy!
