Things Are Getting Squirrelly Here.....

Since it's warmed up considerably from yesterday I went outside and cut some weeds and wild plants down.
I also entertained (and was entertained by) my backyard critters.
One squirrel gets on the roof of my garage and peers over the gutter at me until I throw her a peanut. Another one will be brave enough to get close, either on the ground or on the feeding shelves, and catch a tossed nut in their direction.
This one was brave enough to let me snap its picture in exchange for a couple of peanuts. Fair trade, I'd say. Hope she thought so, too.

I don’t even fight it. The squirrel is sitting on heavy duty plastic shelving. I load all four shelves up with bird seed every morning. Within five minutes birds and squirrels are sitting on the shelves, having brunch.
Oh, and occasionally the neighborhood feral cat.....

@FourWalls i remember my grandfather trying all sorts of ways to get the squirrels away from the bird feeders.
My grandmother had a bay window and loved to watch the birds (love of course moves mountains)!

I can actually stand out there and call them (“Squirrelly!”) and mimic their bark, and they’ll come running. There’s a couple who’ll come running when they hear my garage door open!

They told me to tell you that they aren’t particularly fond of your lack of Marvin Gaye knowledge.
I understand. They can be destructive.

They are such lovely creatures. Many people are not fond of them getting into everything around here, but I dont mind them. Got attacked by a bunch of them when I was a child tho but that did not make me scared of them.

I used to love leaving unsalted peanuts on the front porch. Squirrels or chipmunks used to come and claim their prizes. The chipmunks used to stuff them into their expanding cheeks. They looked so funny.
