I have an issue I've been trying to Wrap my head around but still can't get anywhere because I'm torn in between issues.About 3 weeks ago my brother who lives up-country had a motorbike accident and broke his leg and arm and his under house rest. He is young like 24 yrs and has a girlfriend whom he plans to marry in future. My upcountry people are kinda strict in marriage rules and strictly observe many things and stress they should wait till marriage say sex, doing house chores etc. My brothers gf is from upcountry also so she comes to visit him and check up on him.problem is the girl claims she can't do any chores or do anything around the house saying they are not married but she claims to love him so I'm like he is unwell..This is a special circumstance. My bro has no one from the family around there I go check up on him regularly and so do my sister and his friends and they help around they help more than the girlfriend does..So I'm torn in between the girl is being unfair and it's right since custom dictate so...It is really disturbing me..maybe I'm biased or maybe I'm being harsh by seeing her as unfair I just don't know. Does anyone view it the same as me or is indifferent?

This is kind of tricky. Some people will use tradation as an excuse to be lazy. Hiding behind their values. There should always be exceptions to rules, but if this value isn't enstilled into a person as a child, then they can't be faulted for wanting to sticking to what they're tought. On the other hand, the inability to be flexible can show what kind of relationship they have, and sets a president in how they'll behave in the future.
So, I agree on both sides. She's a person who believes strongly in tradation. But, she's also unwilling to be flexible.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what you or I think. It matters what your brother thinks.

I thinks it is right for her to help since he is sick, but maybe there is a reason why she is doing that maybe if you get to find out more you will understand.

If he is unwell and is unable to do things, it would be nice for his gf to step up and help, even though she isn't supposed to because they are not married yet.

It's a tricky situation. Let them handle it. It's better not to speak between couples
