I’m making progress; hopefully no more OCD

Ever since I was a child, I always had OCD. It got much worse when I reached adulthood. I didn’t know how to go about fixing the problem.
My main compulsion is hand washing. Putting too much soap in my hands and washing with water for about 30 minutes or worse an hour. It’s mentally exhausting and I feel not normal at all.
This year, I’ve gathered enough courage to face my OCD. Through my inner reflection, I’ve decided I will find a solution.
I’ve used the hierarchy of fears which I’ve drawn on my notebook. It looks like a ladder. At the bottom I start from the very least fear then to the very top the ultimate fear. I exposed myself to the fear every single day.
The thing about OCD, it’s a powerful weakness but it’s possible to overcome it. The way I look at it, it’s a nasty habit that went out of control.
So far, I’m making progress. And I’m hoping for the ultimate goal of not having OCD at all. I’m optimistic I’ll reach it.

That is great. With the Lord's help, I've dealt with a lot of my own troubles--I've been told I have a bit of OCD--but in my case it has more to do with my thought processes.

I have thoughts OCD as well. I'm trying to figure it out how to tame it. Maybe feeling relaxed can help. Have you tried hypnosis?

I wish you good luck at overcoming O C D. I remember being obsessed with issues related to cleaness, especially my car but it did nlt become a problem to me, thankfully

I wish you luck. That sounds like a hard one to conquer... It's in the same field as my anxiety and I'm still working on that. Sending some hugs :)

I'm thinking of just getting hypnotized. It might work. Thanks though.

If you need help in your journey, be sure to ask for it. It is good you see the problem and have a plan to eliminate it.

I’ve been thinking of having a therapist. Maybe someday I’ll have one. I’ve become clever in dealing with my OCD; I’m way ahead of it and wiser.

You should be proud of yourself. However, you should not see your OCD as a weakness, but a strength. Try to see some of the good in it. Like being orgnized.

I’m too clean because of it. You have a point I should not see it as all negative
