The dictionary says the word adversity means difficulty, and misfortune.
The Bible's definition of adversity indicates adverse, calamity, mishap, distress.
I have gathered that both these meanings of the word adversity is not good.
We can all agree no matter how you look at it adversity is not a good look when it rears it's ugly head. Or, is it? How many times has adversity hit us so hard, it felt like we were done, finished. But instead we licked the wombs that come with adversity and kicked advrsity in the butt sooo hard. It actually turned out for the good. We gain strengh from the adversity in our lives. I have heard people say if it were not for adversity. Because of the adversity in my life at that particular time. I would have never achieved what I was able to achieve.
There is two ways to look at adversity. You can allow it to hurt you and get you down. Or you can use it to build strengh and snap back with new ideas, methods, courage, and even new opportunities. You can reinvent yourself with adversity.
Adversity teaches you not to make the same mistakes twice.
Even though know one likes adversity and no one welcomes adversity in their lives. When it rears it's ugly head, and it will at some point in everyone's life. After you have gone through the motions that comes with adversity. Use the adversity in your life as a stepping stone to stage your come back. A comeback that will make you even better than you was before adversity and beause of adversity!

Bend or break.
Shape up or ship out.
There is always an option in times of adversity.
Yes you are right. It's a good mindset to use adversity as a stepping stone.
