Why do people avoid being accountable for their mistakes?

Over a month ago, I was in a car accident. I was traveling with my children to my parents. Unfortunately, while driving on the green light, a driver cut my way, he did not give way to me and there was a collision. Fortunately, my kids were fine. I was in pain for two weeks. However, what upsets me the most is that this man doesn't feel guilty about breaking the traffic rules. The police stated that he had clearly made a mistake, because I had priority. The case went to court and I am waiting for the outcome of the hearing. Were you in this situation? In addition, my car was so damaged that it could only be scrapped.

Because if he loses this case; not only does he have to pay the damages, but it also goes on his insurance-record (making THAT cost more).

@Gguusia In America, they'll usually 'make a settlement' rather than go to court. But if this goes on his insurance-record, it's gonna be a lot harder (a lot more money given to the insurance-company) than if he had just 'made a settlement' OUT of court.

@mythociate That's what it is all about :) People think that they will gain something by such procrastination, and in fact they can lose more.

Yes, I have to agree with you, but if he made a mistake, he will be punished anyway, sooner or later.

It is really disheartening to know that you met with an accident, when there was no fault of yours. I hope you will recover soon from your pain. It is really sorry state of affairs that many people do not admit their mistakes and try to prove other one wrong. Let us hope you get the justice at the Court.

Sorry to hear about the accident and your car. Is there a recording of the accident? It would help you with the case. Some just don't like to admit that they're guilty. They don't want to be responsible. I guess they can sleep well at night too.

Unfortunately, there was no recording, and the witnesses left, although they helped us a lot. The police, however, know he is guilty and I think the court will also find it so.

I have not met accident so far but yes I see those idiots every time I drive on road. And I have few incidences of narrow escape. They hardly care.
