I hate to be weather obsessed, but I am.if.it would only get breezy, it would feel great. (It is still humid)We had hours of heavy rain last night..and the parts of the area that flood will probably have severe flooding. I am on high ground here so that is not going to happen, but other low lying areas will see flooding..the city of Richmond floods a great deal. Once I was there in a heavy rainstorm and I was in a burb NW of the city and not quite as prone to flooding, but the parking lot flooded in minutes and there was ankle high water there. I never saw anything like it really. Are you in an area prone to flooding?

@rakski I was shocked that time I was writing about in the shopping center how quickly the water came up and caused minor flooding. That area isn't even that low. In the city of Alexandria, VA. It slopes down toward the river..and when there are heavy rains, they have to sandbag all the businesses in the lower portion of King Street, the area that goes down to the river to keep them from flooding.

We just had heavy rain for two days. I think we are finally out of that pattern, but it is still dark and cloudy. It is alot cooler thank God, and a little bit breezy. That humidity was hard to deal with.

@LadyDuck Yes, they do that with the forecasts alot but I think they would rather have people over cautious than surprised by what they encounter.

@snowy22315 It is hot today, but breezy and dry, not as bad as they had announced, but they love to scare people in our days.

They had a lot of flooding in the city they showed on TV. One guy had gotten up to his neck in water. He said initially, he thought the water was only a few inches deep. He pushed open the door of his vehicle and was able to get out.

@allen0187 Yeah, I think where he got stuck there are signs posted and everything not to drive in there, during rainstorms it is a low area under an overpass. He either didn't see or ignored the signs..so if you are going to be stupid, you are going to have problems.

Well It seems that more southern states are prone to flooding. It has to be the climate down there. Not for me. I will stay here in the north east. But I agree when it comes to humidity. I wish we did not have as much in the summer. But it is what it is.

You don't know what humidity is until you live in the South, trust me... It has been excessively humid here for days. It's a mess. At least the heat has been tolerable..if we had no humidity with it, it would be downright cool right now. It is my dream to buy a place for the summer in my home area.

@snowy22315 Oh I know how humid the south can get. I have been to Florida before. Not for me. Cannot breathe in that heat. I will stay where I am and maybe someday move north of where I am.

Not in my immediate area but there are surrounding areas that do flood. We have lots of creeks and small rivers here that swell when we have lots of rain.

Yes, and also dangerous. When hurricanes come through and drop a lot of rain...people can die in the flooding.

It depends on how much it rains around where I live. The more it rains; there are several places close to me floods.

There are some streams around here within about 10 miles that flood..one that is usually placid was all over the place one time. I was anxious to get home and a school bus was stopped refusing to cross it. I am glad it was..because I might have been tempted to drive through it..which may have been quite stupid. I would have felt like a real idiot (or worse) with my car in a flooded stream.
