Unforgettable Colleagues

Life is made exciting due to our meeting those who stand out. Everyone is unique and when we relate with them over time, we can understand where they come from. When they are colleagues, we have to live with them too.
I had worked with a few over a long time and mostly it was live and let live. At times, I had to bend over backwards to accommodate their repulsive nature. I am one who is quite flexible and understanding. Thankfully, I met a few like me and it was indeed a pleasure to work with them. We then put all our efforts to see that the companies we worked in progressed.
When I started my career, I was fortunate to work with one who seemed to have a solution to any issue. I modeled my approach after him. It was mostly to face tough issues with a smile and to make the best of a bad situation, and keep pressing on.
Another was one who was a sounding board I could rely on to get an impartial and forthright response. This was also at an early stage of my career. I was in touch with him for over forty years and I wanted to surprise him with a visit but he had the last laugh as he had passed away a year before! I sat outside his home, lost in contemplation, and feeling grateful for his company.
Not all were a bed of roses though. I found a few incorrigible along the way but then it is part of life.
Gandhi said “Nobody progresses without opposition”, and he also said to conquer them with love but a few were tough nuts to crack, too set in their ways!
Hope you too had some unforgettable colleagues to recall.

A touching post. A tribute to an advocate.

@Shiva49 The test of time - yes. That is where many friendships fail. Facebook even destroyed friendships. Envy, pride, jealousy crept in.
Sorry. Am not trying to divert the discussion into something ugly. That just came to mind.

@eileenleyva No issues, fact is a fact.
Some are in our face like highlighting what great lives they are having while we are all in the same boat with ups and downs..

Well, I had some group of them when I was working at the call center industry. Sadly, I haven't had any contact with them for a long time.

I can understand.
I worked for three to five years in those companies and they were challenging times.
The cooperation of colleagues mattered for survival.
My last job with a group lasted thirty years!
I am a qualified accountant and worked as CFO.

One individual organised a meet after years and sought my help to put together a video of my memories. I thought I did a good job of that While at work I did encounter blockades that hampered my progress but there were opportunities that came my way without a hitch and so made great progress.

Good, the hurdles along our way make us realize our true potential and that we are made of sterner stuff than what we had thought earlier.
At times, I pat myself I did rise to the occasion, stood by my convictions, than getting kicked around.

I guess people would always be people, one is always different from the other and no two are the same that's why people are unique individuals, yes we need to live with that fact.
