There's No Reasoning

I just got off the phone with my oldest son. He wants to take his vacation in August. He doesn't want to get vaccinated, which is his right, but he wants to visit here, my husband's sister and brother wants to come with him, and the sister don't want to be vaccinated either. Again her right. He was going to fly, but airlines require proof of vaccination. He says he's not sick, but he can get sick. Where I live, our Governor has been on TV, three times because people here refuse to get vaccinated, oh well, just something else to add stress. Now we have to contend with some Delts variant from India. I hope he don't get it. Such is life.

I have a doctor’s appointment Thursday, where we’ll discuss the vaccine. I have an allergy or two to medicine, so we have to make sure that anaphylactic shock doesn’t pop up. I’ve survived covid (had it last December); the reaction to the medicine might be a different story.

@popciclecold He’s one of many who don’t get it, unfortunately.

@DianneN I know, the reason we can't get rid of it

We have our rights too. Even though those who choose not to get vaccinated may have their rights, they still need to respect ours. My little son is not eligible for vaccinations yet, so we will do what we can to keep him as safe as possible . . . and if that means continuing to not let folks in here, that's what it will be.

@popciclecold I don't mind if people want to visit and stay outside the house (which means a short visit in the driveway, with masks, staying apart). That's our limit and anyone visiting knows that. And we don't go in anyone else's house either.

Sorry that your son does not want to understand that it is for the common good of the population,

I'm sorry... I'm still not allowing anyone into my house, whether they've been vaccinated or not. They can still have Covid and pass it on to us, even though we've been vaccinated. The new strains of Covid aren't stopped by the vaccine we just got.

That's why I said no reasoning. He say he not sick, but I told him he could get sick. But he don't want it that's ok. I lot of people feel like that. but he just can't come here.

@popciclecold I hope you told him he couldn't go there... What will you do when he shows up, though? I agree, it's their choice. But I get a choice, too. And if I don't want to be around people who aren't vaccinated, I shouldn't be forced to be around them.

They would never be allowed to visit my home, without the vaccine! And the airlines will NOT allow them to fly, mark my words! The vaccine is also to protect other people, from those who refused the shot If a person doesn't get the virus, they can STILL carry it to someone else

I know, I told him he could get sick, he won't budge, I even told him about the new delta variant, and said if he want to visit people should at least get it

I would tell him very nicely, you really aren't comfortable with him visiting unless he is vaccinated.

I told him so, now all we hear now is about the Delta variant from India.

I agree, it's his choice. But you have a choice too and he should know it. If you can respect his choice, then he should respect yours.

Few people have the habit of resisting anything good or bad. Here in India also there are people who don't want to get vaccinated as they think it's going to harm them. I feel pity for such people.

Sad for your situation. I had to ask my son to get negative Covid tests before he came to our house. Would your son and others be willing to do that just before they leave for your house. People have the right not to get the vaccine, but not endanger the health of others.

He's not coming, he decided to drive instead of flying, because you board a plane without proof of vaccination.

Well if he really want to travel he should get vaccinated so that he don't have problems.

This is a time when I think everyone needs to be respectful of anyone's decision in this matter. There is way too much push from the VAX crowd I think to force people to do something they do not want to do. If it were the other way around, it wouldn't be right. I realize you say it's their right. So let them do what they want. It's their choice and there is no reason to try to reason what YOU think is right. Respect that maybe THEY are right. I had the same fight with my mother about it and I told her to pound sand.

@popciclecold I am not sure that is the answer either. At some point I think we all just have to come back to our senses a bit. Enough is enough. We have too much information at our disposal and hindsight to show that this was never the big deal it was made out to be. The numbers say it all and yet people still cannot wrap their head around the truth. It's a shame.
