I’ve had my second jab!

This pandemic is the first time I ever remember people actually being excited to receive a vaccine! Previously vaccines were just a routine aspect of childhood, an occupational requirement for workers in certain fields, or a necessary evil for those travelling to exotic parts.
This time people have been thrilled to receive the vaccine, have been voluntarily queueing up for it, and have been proudly announcing when they have received it.
Which is what I am just about to do as well - I had my second dose yesterday. I cycled over to the designated centre and was in, jabbed and out again in under 5 minutes. I didn’t even get a chance to open the book I’d brought with me!
I was told to wait in the car park for 15 minutes in case of any adverse effects but of course I didn’t, I decided a leisurely cycle ride would be much more pleasant than just sitting on the verge of a hot car park! And the ride home is only about 20 minutes anyway.
By the time I was half way home I had actually forgotten about the vacination already, but I did have a nice sticker to remind me. Side effects commonly develop the day after apparently, but 24 hours later I haven’t noticed anything yet so hopefully that will be it : )

Congratulations on getting your second dose.
Now you are fully vaccinated for 6 months.
When we go for our vaccines, they have a large area that is monitored and they put a time, 20 minutes out from when you got your shot onto a sticker, and you have to wear it in order to get past security at the doors.
That is not to say that reactions cannot arise after that time period.

We were not allowed to leave before 15 minutes had passed... One older gentleman started to leave when the nurse caught his arm and steered him to a chair six feet away from me... He started to ask her questions but she simply turned and walked away as if she couldn't hear him so I answered his questions. Pretty didn't want to sit down so kept walking around the area but didn't try to leave it.
Roughly an hour after we got home I started noticing I'd had the shot. My tummy started getting upset and I had a fever. I just went to bed.

@Fleura I was sick for two days. It was a lot of fun.
I had no effects after the first shot but Pretty had an upset stomach, a headache and her arm was sore... I believe I got sick because I teased her about being sick with the first shot.

@Fleura It did hurt a little bit at the injection site when I got the first one. The second one I didn't even feel later on.

Terrific! But, still be careful. On news, a vaccinated person, came home from Las Vegas who caught covid variant, Delta.

i had my second jab also here in my country yesterday. only like 10 people were there who received vaccine like me. there was no queue.
but today according to the news there's long queue for vaccine that they would even extend the vaccine hours. must of them are there for their first shot.
there were so much vaccine hesitancy before that only recently people are convinced to get it .

Congrats for getting the second dose. Yes it's true that vaccination was just a routine aspect of childhood. It was not a compulsion but this pandemic has shown that it's a compulsion.
Here in India you are asked to wait for at least 30 minutes inside the centre. They are very strict about it and keep you under the observation for half an hour.
