Unfortunate happening

I went to the blueberry patch to put up netting to protect the berries from birds. I found a sad sight beneath the garden shed, shown here. Somehow, two harmless snakes had gotten hung in some netting from last year. I am genuinely sorry that l left the netting so that snakes could be caught. I took scissors and freed them. The larger snake crawled off, seemingly OK, but the smaller one had died. I cannot imagine what attracted the snakes to the netting, but I am genuinely sorry that I did not carefully dispose of the netting last year.

I don't really like snakes but I hate to think of any animals suffering. I'm glad the one lived.

That's a real shame. Snakes eat a lot of nasty stuff in the yard. I'm glad you were able to save one of the snakes.
