Will You Still Wear a Mask After You Are Fully Vaccinated?

Phew, I am so happy that I feel so much better today after having a rough time yesterday due to my second Covid shot.
By last night, the fever and chills went away, but I still had the achiness. But this morning I woke up and felt fine.
I have heard that some people are just tired the third day, but I feel fine.
I feel a sense of relief after getting that second shot, and after my 2 weeks, will probably still wear a mask only in very crowded spaces.
If you are fully vaccinated, are you still wearing a mask in public?

@Kouponkaren They don't know the consequences of not doing so, but it is their choice.

@Jlyn10 I agree with you. Unfortunately, most of the people do not agree with me.

@Jlyn10 And they may find out the consequences personally in a sad way.

@Kouponkaren Everyone is.
Here we are just in the very first stages of reopening.
Many places are still closed, and we cannot fool with this virus.
The only people here who have had their second shots are those 70 and older.
That is a small margin of our population.

@Juliaacv Oh wow, I didn't realize that the US was farther ahead than Canada in terms of the vaccinations and timing. I think it was back in April that those of us under 65 were okayed for the shot. I actually don't know if there is an age limit here still. I will have to look that up. Most of the public places and privately-owned businesses are opened up here.

@Juliaacv How about the people around you? Are many people still wearing masks?

Yes, even after getting fully-vaccinated, I will wear a mask and still practice the health protocols.

@Kouponkaren better to be safe than sorry. I hate to admit it but it is the new normal. We deserve to demand from the government a better new normal for us.

@allen0187 Is everything still shut down there? Everything is opening up around me in Georgia in the US and only about 30% of people in the stores wear masks now.

@prashu228 I tend to agree with you, but most people here in the US do not. The riles are loosening here in terms of wearing masks, depending on what part of the country someone lives in. Around me, only about 30% of the people in stores wear masks.

@janethwayne That seems to be the consensus for the people that are responding on this post, but not for the general public around here.

@Kouponkaren There are certainly some who are more "at risk," as with most things like this. But the virus is hardly deadly. It's a virus and I guess anyone can get it. I won't deny anyone deciding for themselves how they want to deal with it.

@porwest Well, I certainly hope you don't get the Coronavirus and that if you do, it's just a mild case. I have asthma and don't want to end up in the hospital with it.

@Kouponkaren People are responsible here, we know that being vaccinated is not a guarantee that you are not contaminated and we want to feel safe.

@LadyDuck Then no one has any personal decisions to make because the government has decided already for them. That's a good way to handle it. But I think people here in the US. would revolt!

Yes, we still wear the masks if we leave our house. It protects against any airborne illness as well as screens out pollen and dust. (Both of which I'm allergic to.)

@DaddyEvil That's a really good point. I see that there was a decrease in Flt cases this year and I am pretty sure it had to do with masks and good hygiene practices.

@wolfgirl569 It must feel good to not wear one. I am still on the fence about it.

Glad you're feeling better. I had a terrible first covid shot (felt like a bad flu for several days), but no problem at all with the second. I don't wear a mask now except in hospitals or doctor's offices where it's still required, but with your compromised immune system, you'd probably be wise to still wear it in some places.

@Kouponkaren Oh, that's great you didn't need treatments! So, your immune system should be strong now. God is amazing!

Thank you. That's what the nurse who gave me a shot told me, that I wouldn't have a reaction since I had one the first time. But she was wrong. I don't think I have a compromised immune system. The cancer is gone and I never had to have radiation or chemo (and I am SO thankful to God for both of those things).

Happy you feel better.
In public, I still wear my mask. Among family and vaccinated friends, not anymore. I also keep a safe distance and wash my hands of sanitize instantly. Can’t be too careful. The virus is there and so are the variants.

Yes, just because I am vaccinated doesn't mean I can't catch it or spread it. There are new strands popping up and the vaccinations don't completely protect you against it. They just help give you a milder experience of it so you will hopefully not die.
My children are also not vaccinated yet.

I have never worn a mask in public. I will not recieve the vaccine, either. If I get sick, I get sick. If my husband gets sick... he gets sick. No virus is going to stop me from living my best life. And, if I die from it, well guess my time on this Earth is over. I am not afraid to die.
