Peace

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 I love taking my anxieties and worries to God and asking for His help and strength. Yesterday, my granddaughter went out for her 18th birthday, and even though she doesn't drink or smoke or do drugs, an alarming fear came over me that someone might cause harm to her. Suddenly, my worry was overwhelming, and then I remembered Philippians 4:6-7 was my verse of the day. I decided to put all my efforts into praying instead of worrying, and put her safety in the hands of God. I knew bad things could still happen, I knew God doesn't promise us a perfect life, I knew sorrows can still occur in this world, but I also knew that God is with me (and He was with Skylar), and He will never forsake me and His strength gives me peace which transcends all understanding, which is what I received last night through Jesus Christ. After a short while, I realized I had moved on to other matters and these thoughts weren't assailing my poor brain anymore. I love God's peace and I'm so thankful for Him. Thanks for reading my post. I hope everyone has a great weekend. This picture is from PixaBay. I added the words.

I try to do the same thing when worries overwhelm me. I just got a new coffee mug that says Faith Over Fear and I love it. Hope your granddaughter was okay and nothing happened to her

I love Faith over fear--what a great mug to have. She was perfectly fine and was home before midnight. I'm so thankful that God is there for us.

Yes we should put all our burdens on God. Yes we should be thankful for everything.

I agree, and it's what He wants us to do.

You might as well turn that anxiety into surrender. It can certainly help with anxiety.

She was fine and was home before midnight. She is such a wonderful kid. Now I have something else to worry about--she just received her license and she's driving around a lot. I'm just kidding because I'm going to give those fears to God because He wants me too and I will lose my mind with worry if I don't.

It is very scary when kids turn 18 and go somewhere you have to worry about them. Just remember that God will always be with her.

I think that peace is connected to love. If we really feel God's love within us, we are at peace then too. We can be at peace when we piece together God's love. As much as we dismantle any aspect of God's love, we lose this feeling of peace and become agitated, in other emotions, other than love. We become angry, or sad, or happy, or mad, but they are all substitute states for the real peace that is only obtained from our remaining within God's love, entire as it is. If we drop any part of love to enter another emotion, we will lose peace in the process. When we drop into an emotion, we should not also drop away from love. We should let love fill the emotion with itself, and so make it a real emotion for us, and so then we would not step down away from love to make the emotion separated from love, so that it overwhelms us with itself, and so then we lose hold on God's peace. Yes, the peace of God guards our hearts and minds better, when we stay attached to his love too.
