Do You Enjoy Going Barefoot?

I love walking around barefoot, especially in my house, or outside on the grass. When I am hot, the cool feeling of fresh green grass on my bare feet just makes me so happy and cools me off. There have actually been studies done that say this is good for your health. There is a new faze called "earthing" that has health benefits and I am including a link to it below.
In my home, especially on hot days, I enjoy going barefoot because it just feels good, and when I walk on our tiled floors, they are nice and cooling.
My husband on the other hand does not like to go barefoot and doesn't like me to go barefoot, or any of our visitors. There is a reason for this though. When he was little, his family was very poor, and they lived in a house that had bare wood floors that were not finished and the wood was rough. If any of his family went barefoot, they would often get slivers in the bottom of their feet. Ouch...that hurts just writing it. So seeing people go barefoot really bothers him and reminds him of that time in his past.
Out of respect for him, I wear slippers on shoes in the house. But when he is out, I always go barefoot.
Do you enjoy going barefoot? (See Earthing article below)

Perhaps you'd know them by another name:
Goatheads ( Tribulus terrestris ) are native to Southern Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Goatheads are also called stickers, stick...

@Kouponkaren Goathead stickers have needle like projections. Nasty boogers.

@rebelann Ouch, I don't know what those are, but they sound painful so I would keep my shoes on there too!

I do. As a kid, the day school let out the shoes came off and didn't go back on until September. We used to have races down a gravel driveway to prove who had the toughest feet lol
I don't go barefoot outside that much anymore.

My kids and I like going barefoot. Even though I ran around without shoes often as a kid, I find myself copying my late mother in instructing them to put shoes on outside! hahaha. Mostly because our driveway here is a stone driveway and it hurts when stepping on it. When in the grass/ kids play area, by all means kick off the shoes and have fun!

@Daelii Oh yeah, I don't like walking around on stones. Just nice green grass and inside the house.

I do enjoy being barefoot, but rarely in public. Although in a pool setting or on the beach I at least wear flip flops most of the time.
I can understand about your husband's thoughts. Slivers in my feet would be no fun at all. But I guess if that's in the past and you now have better floors, why not just let the tootsies be free?

@porwest Ha ha, your comment about the "tootsies" made me laugh. Thanks for that. I think it is something that has been ingrained in his mind for so long he can't shake it.

I am much like you. I like to be outside on the grass barefoot. I will go barefoot inside, but there are hazards. Hubby NEVER goes barefoot. Last year I even found myself craving sitting on the grass. I need to wear shoes with orthotics in them most of the time to keep my knee from causing so much pain, so I wear shoes often in the house. When I take them off, though, my feet say "thanks."

I do, but only where it is safe to do so. Not too many places around here are conducive to barefootedness so it is mostly in the house where I do it.

If I could get away with going barefoot in public places, I would. Because I don't know what could be in the grass, especially with it being so dry, I tend to rarely walk barefoot in my front yard. Being in a wheelchair, while out in public, I could probably get away with being barefoot, but it's hard to say. I haven't tried it. But, I'm barefoot in my house year-round.

The only time I wear shoes is when I am away from home.
