Children were infected in the percentage of below 5% in the first wave of the covid19 which increased to about 10% in the second wave of the pandemic. As per the medical report the children mortality rate is very low. WHO also cannot recommend as of now to get vaccines on children as they needed more evidences on covid19 vaccines. And so children are equally susceptible as adults and older folks to get infected. Rumours of the new delta variant is also creating fear among the people.

I believe the safe thing to do would be to get children vaccinated, during their teen years. My granddaughter tested positive for COVID, but she never displayed any harmful symptoms. A healthy child doesn't need to fear this virus.

Good to hear that your granddaughter is safe from covid. Points to be noted (healthy child doesn't need to fear the virus) . Thanks for the advice to get vaccinated.

@Bryanwati My daughter worked as a nurse during the worst part of this outbreak. She got COVID, but quickly got over it.

I think it is entirely up to the parents to decide what is best for their kids. My only opposition to the vaccination for anyone is that it was not properly tested nor vetted. Vaccines typically take 3-5 years to fully develop, research, test, and release. This was done in 3-5 months. We have no idea what the after effects may be, and I think there is a higher risk in having harmful side effects from the vaccination than contracting Covid. For anyone, kids included.

@porwest yes I understand (parents to decide), can't also put children's life in danger of getting post vaccines Side effects. I've heard most States in the US have done vaccination of children between 10-18 years, no such vaccination drive policy from the government have been roled out yet here in my place.

@Bryanwati I think the kids are still relatively immune to it, despite what the government is trying to say.
