No Olympics in 2026

Finally met our Ice Princess’s head coaches. Galit Chait and Francesco Moracci. They met at the Winter Olympics in Japan and live in New Jersey near my son and his family. Info online.
Our Ice Princess is good friends with their two daughters. They skate together and have sleepovers, etc. The older one is Olympic material. I’ve seen her skate.
Our Ice Princess loves figure skating, but told me she hasn’t been interested in going to the Olympics since she was 4 years old.
The proof is in the pudding as they say. Rather than spend her entire summer devoted to the ice, she opted to return to her overnight camp for the entire summer to see all her friends again and have fun. She will still skate every morning. Nichole Richie’s daughter can’t come to camp this year, but my granddaughter texts with her and promised to visit when in L.A. My DIL is on the phone with Nicole weekly.
She flys to Maine tomorrow. Her brother leaves for a camp in New Hampshire tomorrow, also. Our son is driving him, then driving here for dinner and spending the night. Our younger son and his girlfriend will join us for dinner.
Sorry I haven’t had time to be here. Played pickle ball with my friend yesterday and went out for a drink with her afterwards. The cleaning lady was here all day, so I played tennis with hubs and another couple at our club. Celebrating Friday date night and slugging my martini. My days are packed and my summer is booked through August.
I’m a bit overwhelmed with everything that seems to be happening all at once, but I’m loving it all! Just miss my friends here and will stop by when I have a moment to breathe.

I hope you have the best summer ever, Enjoy your martini and date night. In a way I can see the Ice Princesses point of view, She can still skate great and win all kinds of competitions but to do the Olympics is really like putting your life on hold, Glad she can enjoy summer camp and meet up with friends,

Awe, thanks for understanding about the IP. Her mom would love for her to go to high school and experience the wonderful memories she would gain. You are right about the Olympics. If she makes Nationals, it would be awesome. Many thanks. We had a good dinner, and I’m giving hubs some time to watch another game of baseball. 9:33 is a Masterpiece Theater show we both want to watch.

It is good your grand daughter knows that she loves to ice skate but not want to put in all the time for training for the Olympics. She has chosen to enjoy her childhood and be with her friends and makes ice skating a part of that.

@kobesbuddy Your family is much larger than mine. It’s my best friend who has us extra busy. I’m counting 3 days off the top of my head for just next week. I had to tell her to cool it with the days and nights!

Enjoy your time away. It sounds like you have a very busy schedule. That is nice that she keeps in touch with Nicolle Richie's daughters. Sounds like you enjoys figure skating but it is not a life profession for her. She wants to be a kids and enjoy spending time with her friends. That is great for her and that she is not pushed into doing it as a profession and that she can enjoy her life and still do that.

I am glad she does not have parents that push her and she loves to skate because that is something she likes to do. That is hard that other parents want the fame. Some people maybe once had careers like acting or ice skating and then something happened that they could not continue so they do it through their kids whether they want it or not and push them. That is very sad. I am glad she has a choice.

Exactly. So far, so good. She still says that skating is her life. Time will tell. We may have to come up with a plan where to go other than the Olympics. No need to have a heart attack.
Yes, it’s much less running around than tennis. We had a trainer, because I forgot the rules and my friend never played. We’re playing again on Tuesday with the trainer again. She was awesome and so helpful.
Thanks so much. I have less than 30 minutes until Masterpiece Theater starts. Meanwhile, hubs is watching baseball.

If your knees are okay and you can hit a whiffle ball with a paddle, then it would be a fun exercise for you. Try to check out a game or two.
