Why is it that when we have an animal and it gets sick we feel it's inhumane to just let it suffer while at the same time if we had a family member that had a horrible painful disease with no chance of recovery we think the very idea of euthanasia is wrong? I'd really like to hear others thoughts on this.

I've often wondered about this myself and having watched my mum die from cancer an suffering terrible pain my siblings got angry with me when I said that we wouldn't have allowed her to suffer like that if she'd been a dog. I understand their point of view, they wanted her to live as long as possible but when I saw her I just wanted her to stop suffering.

I've thought about this a lot too. I think there should be some exceptions for euthanasia for those who are very sick, we do it for our pets because we love them and don't want them to suffer. The same option should be available for family members (under certain conditions of course).
