Did You Personally Know Anyone Who Committed Suicide?

Well it's a morbid Tuesday for me. Blame it on continuous lack of sleep from the annoying/selfish/noisy neighbors I wanna curse to death. 
Anyway when I lack sleep my thoughts tend to go negative. Of course because it is one of the effects of lack of sleep. Today seems like the worst of days and so I go online and search some stuff up and voila I read about people who survived their suicide attempts. Still a silver lining, good job self. Not everyone dies from suicide hurray! Whether it be a gunshot to the head or stab wounds people survived! 
But then now I'm curious... I realized I have never talked to or encountered anyone who actually committed suicide. Have you? If yes, how did your last conversation go? What did you think of them?

Yes, I knew of someone whom was in need of money so he went around to borrow money. He cited that his father was sick and that he needed the money.
I lend him $500 as I had just started working.
Then I heard that it was not for his father but he planned to use the money to repay his gambling debts.
Somehow when he had the money, he ended up gambling.

Ah gambling is such a terrible vice. If we can't control the urge to "play" then we lose more than money... So sad to hear abt that person.

Yes, and do not believe that the gamblers will quit when they said they will. They will try one more time so long as they have the money. I am shell shocked when I heard that he jumped from 12th floor all the way to the ground.

Yes I know.. one of my friend hanged herself due to marital issues... that's sad..

Yes. My friend was 28. He and his girlfriend got in a fight. She went to visit her parents and he put a lawn chair on the railroad tracks and... just waited for the train to run him over.
I talked with him a few hours before that happened. He seemed depressed but okay.
That happened 27 years ago.

I have never encountered anyone personally who wanted to end their own life.

@owstalaga Yes we are. I only know of celebrities who have taken their own life due to the pressure of fame.

I'm 45 now.
When I was 25 my best friend of ten years killed himself.
It wasn't a good time.
He had a daughter (my god daughter) who was 2 at the time and it still causes her issues today.
