They are starving.

My eldest daughter has gone several times along the years to a place in the Bolivian forest. There she met a tribe of natives and they treated her along the years as one of their own. Yesterday she talked with the only one of them who has more studies and he told her that they were in extreme need. They had built a shelter for tourists and some of them had become guides. The codid ended all that. So he had started with a small grocery store but there were so many starving that he had to help them too. Tania told me about this while crying. I asked and she told me that US $800 could help them a lot. She was sending her the $300 she could spare. After thinking about it all, we decided that she had to ask for help from our fsmily and her friends. I told her that I would put the rest. I don´t have to buy Camembert cheese or a Jack Daniels bottle. I have discovered that my government helps everyone a lot more than in other countries. Those friends have 3 children with cleft palate and they don´t have the money to do the needed surgeries. Here, the health service takes care of that almost free. And the rest is helped by an institution. Not there I hope that between us the needed money can be raised. I will now check all the money I have in my Pay pal account. That was money for souvenirs and piña coladas in Aruba. This is more important. See you later. I´m going to see my money accounts.

It is generous of you and your daughter to help them. I am sorry their Government does not help. In Italy is the same as in your country, surgeries are free for those who have no money... even if they are illegal immigrants.

They have been very generous with my daughter in other times. She went to Bolivia years ago and came across them. They shared with her whatever they had and Tania started to go there every 2 or 3 years. She filled her bags with clothes and much needed utensils for domestic use. Now it is time to help them. The covid has been terrible forsome people. And some countries don´t have a reasonable health service.

@LadyDuck I know that. I am aware that my country has a better healthcare system than the US for those who cannot afford a good health insurance.

@marguicha Too many countries do not have a reasonable health service. Incredible that this could sound, the United States have a terrible healthcare system, those poor cannot afford it.

That's very kind of you. You must have a very good health plan in your country.

When I had chemotherapy, most of it all was paid by the government, except for a deductible. If it wasn´t for that, I would have had to sell my house.

@LindaOHio Many types of cancer are covered by the government here as well as some other catastrophic ailments. Our health plans are very good considering that we are not a rich country.

@marguicha Our health plan isn't bad. We also have a supplemental cancer policy that we took out with another company.

I hope you aren't being taken for a ride. I mean I know others are struggling, but it's hard to tell who needs the money and who really doesn't.

@kaylachan It is easier to be suspicious if you don´t know the person. This is not only a worthy cause (none of us can save the world). This is help to friends.

@marguicha I know, but that's a lot of money to raise. I'm all for a worthy cause, but I can still be suspicious and concerned.

You might want to contact Operation Blessing. They are known for going overseas and correcting the cleft palates at no charge. They also help with food and other necessities. Not sure how many they do a year. But it might be worth checking out.
