Do people change or show their true self?

@ThatDisha I wonder about this too. I know one such person.how can people change completely into a different person in such a short time..

maybe they're just pretending from the start, and when something happened they just show their true self. Bad past really can change people completely

I think either is possible. At your age, it's quite common for people to still be discovering who they are or who they want to be. It's often a time of changes in people's lives, so not surprising if their personalities appear to change. I do believe that people more often become or show their true self. Saying that, it would also depend on their own experiences. Certain things do change you, our experiences shape us. There absolutely are times that people will act one way and then show their true colours, but also people who genuinely change, sometimes for better and sometimes for worse.

I don't think people change. They're just being their true self over the time.

People will change because of the change of their status and experience,i understand it.But as long as they don't do the evil things like selling the soul to devil,torturing the little animals,i guess we should respect their change. surely,showing their true self is not a bad thing,it's better than making the friends with those hypocrites

Out first impression is not the real one and it takes time to know and understand a person

It's a human nature and everyone do that. Maybe you too also be doing it and you don't be able to realise it so better ask someone else about yourself then you will come to know. Yes people change with the time and that's okay in my opinion.

Sometimes, people hide who they are because they want others to like them and are scared people won't like the person they've been all their lives... Slowly, usually, the person can let his true self show through the fake personality they've been using. Sometimes, after showing their true self, others don't like them, so the person has to be fake again and start with trying to make a friend again. It would be easier for them to show their real self to everyone and make friends that way instead of the other way.... People aren't always very smart.

I posted one discussion about change just now and then I saw yours. The content is different though. I don't change as I am who I am. Even in dire circumstances, I hold on to the basics. I have also seen some having a double face and we should guard against them.

It happens dear. Everyone is different. Just relax with age and maturity you will know how to deal with such people

It happens for everyone. People arent always the same as when you first meet them. If people didn't change I would be concerned.

I totally understand what you mean It's okay that people change Most times it is for good. You see, they face several situations and experience a lot of things. So hey learn new actions to the situations thrown at them by life. Also it isn't like we are the same as we were 5 years ago. Just hold onto them if they still make you feel happy and help them if you feel like they need your help or tell them to get some help and wish luck for them and move on.
