Do you still wear a mask if you are vaccinated against COVID-19?

People here stopped wearing masks. Even unvaccinated people don't wear masks because it's not easy to wear them during the summer. It's too hot. I am vaccinated, but when I go somewhere I still wear a mask. I think this is the right thing to do. I wonder why so many people think that we got rid of this pandemic.

i wear a mask if I step outside my house. It not only protects you against Covid but also protects you from pollen, which I'm allergic to, cold and flu viruses and anything else you can catch from the air. Some people here tried to make wearing masks political so they never wore the masks and pretend they "can't breathe" while wearing them. I agree it can get hot wearing a mask but the pluses of wearing it far outweigh the minuses, in my opinion. (People who say they can't breathe while wearing a mask are full of poo! If masks could affect a person's breathing, then doctor's doing surgery would faint all the time but they don't.)

@akalinus It shouldn't make any difference. I get hot wearing a mask on a hot day but the same amount of air reaches my lungs.

I have trouble breathing with a mask on hot, humid days.

People with anxiety have this problem. They feel like they can't breathe when they wear a mask.

Masks are a must for me when I go out. And now they are talking about needing a thirth dose. I think that masks, social distance and washing with soap are the best there is.

I haven't really started wearing a mask, just when I had to in shops and the one plane trip last summer. And going to my seat at conserts. Most of the time, keeping my distance is no problem. Space is hardly every the issue here, so I'm just avoiding the places where everyone gather.

@dya80dya It works fine here, since we have a lot of space.

We're allowed to not weak masks outdoors, if there aren't (many) people around. It's a relief because the summer heat makes wearing masks unbearable, as you mentioned. Most masks are meant to protect others from you, not to protect yourself from others, so it doesn't make sense for vaccinated people to not wear them as they can still infect the unvaccinated. I guess some people are just tired of following rules.

Actually, the consensus is that the masks also protect the wearer from various viruses, pollen and other air borne illnesses.

@DaddyEvil They're more effective blocking the "output" than the "input", but sure, they can offer a little of that protection too, depending on the type of mask. Still glad the pandemic gave you a solution for your pollen allergy.

@sabtraversa Me, too. I get really tired of leaving the house, driving ten miles and needing to turn around and go home because my eyes are swelling closed.

It depends on where I am. In a medical setting, yes; not so much for just covid but anything else they might be germing up the place with. (Seriously, we should’ve been wearing masks in doctors offices and hospitals ages ago). Outside, no. In big spacious stores (e.g., Home Depot), no. In cramped areas (e.g., Walmart checkout line, small stores), yes. Had it once, don’t want it again, even though my case was extremely mild and didn’t affect my respiratory system at all.

You were lucky. I wore a mask in a spacious store and I still contracted the flu.

Its still compulsory to wear a mask inside of any public place and pavements which are very narrow here in some places where you cannot keep a social distance. Its very hot here has been for days now and its very hard to be out wearing it. Besides there are two diffferent strains of it over here causing more infections than ever so its not time to take it off yet.

@dya80dya Its gotten to be serious again on a certain level so Spain is back on the what they call the amber list for countries not to travel to without precautions.

This is complicated. I don't think that we will get rid of new strains.

I wear a mask where it is required to. I am not for the vax though. In my place here, it is very lax and very low infection rate or deaths.

By Diana @dya80dya Here even when we were supposed to wear masks both inside and out did not. I have no idea why people do what they do. I do not always wear my mask these days but at times still do. I got tired of it. I am vaccinated but still try to stay away from people and not get too close to strangers. People I know I stand by them. I have days where it bothers me and days where it does not. I forgot my mask at home today and decided not to wear it and when went out again decided did not want to wear it.

@dya80dya Not everyone is tired of them. The ones that never wore them are not tired of them. I know the virus is still here and people do not want to follow rules and so do what they want and do not care about others being infected by their carelessness.

I still wear mask even though it's been vaccinated. Because wearing a mask can protect yourself and others. Even though you have been vaccinated, there is still a small chance of getting COVID, so you should still wear a mask if you want to go outside...
